2017 Stone Blue Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate, 6.2L, CCSB

I recently was looking to update my daily driver. I had a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT that I bought new. I also had a 2002 Avalanche that I drove in the winters. And finally my 2001 Pontiac Trans Am Twin Turbo car. I didn't like having three vehicles with a 2 car garage. I was looking for something to replace the G8 and the Avalanche. Needed something sporty for the G8 and something will pulling / utility abilities for the Avalanche.

 

I ended up with a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate. Crew Cab Short Box in Stone Blue with the 6.2L.

I flew to Laura GMC in the St. Louis area to pick up the truck (saved some good money).



When I arrived, it had 11 miles on it. I went for a quick test drive and snapped a photo with 13 miles on it.





I knew I was going to be driving through bad weather, or I would have had them do additional cleaning. The weather forecast called for 6-8" of snow at home.

I hit the road and didn't get much out of St. Louis before the traffic was at a crawl. Sure enough, glare ice. I ran across 4-5 rollovers, semis jackknifed, and also an area where trucks were driving in the median and pulling semis up hills. It made for a long first hour and a half.

About 50 miles North of St. Louis, the roads cleared up. I was able to move at a decent clip. It was snowing, but nothing horrible. I passed a town about 80 miles from home, and the rest of the way was a 2 lane road, completely covered with snow, and some blowing snow. Made for an interesting finally.

I stopped by the scale just to see what it weighed (1/2 tank of fuel):



From there, I went to a buddy's house to show him the new ride. He started laughing and said to take a look at the front of the truck. Sure enough, I drove through Winter!!!





Got home and had 491 miles on the odometer. Just a small 480 mile trip through crap.



I locked the truck in 4 High when traffic was at a crawl by St. Louis. At that time, I reset the trip meter. 440 miles in 4 High and ended up getting 21.3MPG. I was quite impressed.



Not a bad maiden voyage.

Hoping to get some of the accessories on it this weekend. Tonneau cover, mud flaps, weather floor mats, Front and Rear GMC emblem overlays, and a catch can.

I am extremely happy with the truck and can't wait to find out more about some of the feature. Need it to warm up a bit to get it cleaned back up!

Awesome car and truck!! I'm looking to do somewhat the same as you. Just sold my 06 gto about two months ago and plan on buying a truck from Laura's in the spring. Only thing is that I got over a 1000 mile drive haha

Enjoyed the videos thanks for that. I need to trade drivers side rear doors with you though the stone blue metallic that I recently picked up at Laura has a customized paint area on that door........
