Trying to buy a '17....few last questions....help please?

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

Working a deal on a 2017 Silverado 1500, is $10k off as good as it gets? Normal? Or what?

Anyone know where I can find out the GM supplier discount? I have Costco and want to verify the pricing compared to MSRP.

The truck does NOT have a hitch/tow package, I need it to tow my 6k lb boat, if the dealer adds a hitch/wiring is that any different than a truck with tow package factory installed?

Anything to note on the "custom" trim models?

Thanks,

Matt

Look for at least 20% off MSRP. You'll probably do better without Supplier pricing. Once you mention it, the dealer will not want to give you a deal without because the supplier program is better for them.

I'd wait a few weeks yet, right before year end, for the best deal.

Lots of factors to consider regarding "The best deal" but to keep it simple if you are doing a cash deal on a 2017 not a clearout 2016 then 10k off is a deal I would feel pretty good about especially if you are getting that off a Mid level truck IMO.

Regarding the tow package in addition to the obvious hitch/wiring you would also need to add the trailer brake controller unless your towing will only be very light 4pin trailers

The only other thing the factory tow package adds is the auto locking diff which can be orders separately but I would check to see if this truck has it if thats important to you.

I did Costco on my truck and also had the GM discount and the Costco was better and they gave me a $400 gift card as well.

$10,000 off seems damn good to me on a 17!

Thanks for the fast responses, and the link! That's the one I found, but as you mentioned I was worried about which one gets me the better price. MSRP on this truck is $41,170 so $10k is nearly 25% off which I felt was a pretty strong place for the dealer to start.

I don't need the electric brake controller as my boat trailer has surge brakes so nothing electrical to hook up. I saw the auto locking diff as part of the tow package on the build site and this truck doesn't have it, but I think I'll be fine seeing as how I could just put it into 4wd if I needed to.

This truck has some silly options in my mind, and I hate paying for them but if I ordered a truck without these options I'm not sure I could get it for the same price anyways.
