What I've Replaced Over The Years

Growing up in the 70s, my father had a '75 3/4 ton GMC & a '79 3/4 C/C GMC. In '81 I bought my 1st truck, an '82 K15 shortbox fleetside w/ a 305 & the crappy THM700R$

The visor, headlight covers & chrome bumpers were added by a subsequent owner.

In the spring of '88 I bought an '88 S15 regular cab longbox (4x4)

About the only thing I did to it was swap the Uniroyals for BFG M/Ts

I sold it in '93.

Replaced the S15 w/ a '94 K1500 (350, A/T). Kept it pretty much stock other than adding 2 leaves on each side @ the back. By the look of the truck's stance in the pic, it was after this.

The Kumhos (a BFG M/T clone) were the worst tire I've ever had on a truck.

My 1st 3/4 ton was a 2000 GMC 2500:

I had the flares painted a "sandstone" colour after purchase. They were black originally. I wasn't completely enamoured w/ the truck & it had a few niggly little issues. Sold it after 4 years.

I saw the truck in another part of the county in Sept' of '15. Still looked in good shape.

On this truck I added a levelling kit & trimmed the front bumper.

colorful history.

the kumhos beginning is hilarious.

I still have an LT kumho with less sidewall rating than a chinese P-rated. Not sur ehow they got away with that. :)

I think international rules caught up to them.

I run modern kumhos, and they are proving to be incredible.

112mph S rated with 3450 pound stainless cord LT. I love them.

A lot of asian has gone through changes since the standard "ts16949" took over iso9001.

that old automatic torturing the iron SBC.. it is the reason I took on the last 305 with a 5 speed.

all problems gone.

injected and a manual.. wow.

I do not plan on selling.

Glad you keep your head up..bought many models. Most I know walked away after the 70s. Builders like me pick and choose to this day.

2016-17 is interesting.. maybe go get a look at a dealer.

I drive my dads around. Started with no miles..brand new.

the 6 speed auto needed 1000 miles before it started acting smoother, and the aluminum is just getting the invincible carbons. Very beefy 5.3L with some interesting changes. Looking forward to a few years from now with it.

That S15 looked mint. That would be my favorite of the ones you've had. That and that green 2000.

The 4.3 wasn't the rocket the mags made it out to be nor that efficient. When I replaced it w/ the '94 that had a 350 (TBI as well), I didn't lose that much mileage-wise). The 2000 wound up less the air dam. Tore it off @ the woodlot. Didn't damage it, but broke the push pins. I figured I just do it again cutting firewood. I had the flares painted ( a sandstoneish colour) after I picked it up. I was never completely happy w/ it & gotrid of it for the '04. Having the ABS module harness corrode away at the module resulting in a 600 buck repair will do that to a person.
