descreened mafs

some say that descreening the maf will help you out now but that thencomputer learns out and after a while it henders you.others say that it helps out period. i have been told that the computer cant give correct readings when it is descreened.some say that when the computer gets to a point that it cant read correctly it goes back to a preset setting.do you run descreened mafs,if so how long.if you did and went back--why.

It really doesn't hender any airflow, in spite of what so many may claim. The general consensus among most folks who have an opportunity to play around with this sort of mod frequently is to leave it alone. Its purpose is to spread the airflow around the MAF sensor wires so that better sampling can occur, hence giving the computer some data to work with to keep emissions adjustments happy.

 

Some vehicles may not have the screen but the airflow coming from the stock box is such that the wires are equally hit so no screen is needed.

I agree w/ lrymal on this one. I have not descreened mine nor do I plan on it. I think the gains you might see from this would hardly be noticeable 1 - 2hp? Then if you happen to hit or cut 1 of the little wires while you're de-screening- you just won a trip to the dealership or parts house to the tune of $100.00 or more. No thanks, I'll leave mine alone. Just my .02
