Buying new wheels/tires...

Recommended Posts

What is your opinion?

Would you, A:

buy 4 sets of wheels/tires and use your existing spare for emergency only,

or B:

Buy 5 sets of wheels/tires and rotate 5 tires instead of 4. This will increase the longetivity of the tires, and if one tire gets a flat, you don't have to buy another one that doesn't match.

What do you think?

Thanks

Ryan

Having an extra matching rim would be nice, but my concern would be it weathering if you're storing it in the stock location under the truck. I know at least up here in OH, you're going to have salt problems like that.

I kept my stock rims, so I may not be of much help to you, however... I bought 5 tires, but only rotate 4 of them. If you happen to get a flat on the front you'll have handling problems because of the different sizes. If you get a flat in the rear, and you have the locking differential, then you're in a world of hurt. The locker will think you have wheel spin all the time and essentially overheat and blow itself up (well, not actually blow up but you get the idea). Personally, I would never run a truck that had a locker and 2 different sized tires. :)
