The pcm will just retard the timing to prevent knock. you'll be fine. My old truck had a 93 hot tune in it and I would put 87 in it every once and a while if I couldn't afford 93 (back when gas was $4+ a gallon) and it was fine.

Thats the Stupidist Fvcking thing I have ever heard... If you can't afford $4 gas then you should not be tuning for anything over 89 octane if your rubbing pennys, nickles and dimes together!

Sometimes people go through rough times in their lives and sometimes it happens after their only vehicle is tuned for 93 and gas prices happen to go out of control. ****.

Damn truck is ruined now. :P

See what happens when you run into Wawa to get a tasty sandwich and leave the pump attendant to his own deviant devices.

As others have said run it gently, no wot or high revs and you should be ok.

Before I realized I had 87 in there I was getting on it

Interestly it was pinging mostly at throttle tip in and low rpm

That's why I initially thought it was drivetrain related, everytime I punched the throttle it immediately "clanged"

Thanks for the help guys, can't wait until this tank is gone

Ya'll need to do away with those laws that require someone else to pump your gas. I love self service and full service, but having the choice.

I pump mine probably 1 out if 5 times when I don't feel like waiting, I'd say someone told me I can't once in my life.

You will be fine, but it wouldn't hurt to put some octane booster in there. We have used Torco, but it is pricey.

It will essentially run like it did stock, until you get some higher octane in the tank.

I certainly can empathize. I imagine anyone suggesting this comment was extreme has had a pretty consistent financial existence.
