I wish my truck didn't have them as now I have to return my LED bar for behind the grille

Instead of putting lights behind your OEM grille, you can get a Royalty Core RC1X grille that includes a 20" light bar from VisionX.  www.royaltycore.com .  The light is forward of the active shutter system!

What other recommendations do you all have for adding lights without removing the shutter system? I've looked at removing just the bottom row or shutters and mounting like a single row 10" or 12" bar possibly on each side of the servo. Thoughts/concerns there?

No need to apologize - everyone has different tastes!  We make a lot of designs, can color match to your truck, or polish our stainless steel grilles to a mirror finish for true chrome.  Here's a couple more examples:5a4c4ca4f0b35_GMCRC4.thumb.jpg.80412b8c16ae8ccc9667d29fbc28ebfa.jpg

What was the final conclusion of this? I installed the RC 30" curved bar behind my grill last night. I removed the active shutters from my grill, installed the bar, wired it up and put everything back together. I went to go remote start my truck and it failed just to find out that disconnecting the active shutters turns on the CEL. I am fine living without the shutters but I use my remote start almost daily. I wanted to see if anyone found a long term solution.

I like the idea of placing a light below the bumper, but above the lower valance and license plate holder. Did anyone find anything that works?

Cut the entire center part with the motor out of the shutter system. Cut the nubs off of the shutters that insert into the motor. Superglue the nubs into the motor then plug the motor back into the wiring harness and secure it in a safe location. Cutting the nubs off and gluing them back into the motor basically makes the motor think it is still working properly and still has the stops on it so that it thinks it "opens" and "closes" as normal and doesn't kick on the CEL

Did you end up finding out what that code was for?

Had the same problem. After some time the motor out powers the plastic stops for the shutters and will just keep spinning and throw the code since it doesn't read it opening and closing correctly. I fixed it by buying a new shutter system which sucked. This mod is not worth it because the new shutters will set you back another $300 and you have to get rid of your light bar that's already paid for

Does anyone know what the computer is reading to determine open or closed settings. outside temp, coolant temp, engine bay temp?

just curious if running the shutters closed with headers is asking for problems.

Hey guys I finally got my check engine light and reduced engine power to go away. just plugging in the motor will not alleviate your issue. Attached are pictures. I had to cut out the housing and cut off the shutter flapper arm. I then stuck the little arm pieces I cut off back into the motor and glued them in there so now there are the shut off positions. Started engine clear check engine lights and I have been good ever since.

Do this on your own I am not responsible for any damage you may cause to your vehicle or yourself.6154892837e6a69a3fec37920572cd32.jpgd62ae477b4b3c37e467991f94a00c07e.jpg86d48f037804de2d74f48717061bc9ac.jpg503f68cdad334984b46bb064adce6c7f.jpg20e7ae0c577dc2e6f4c81de4f13f7e58.jpg99678f3827488f8d322e2018d193ffaf.jpg

What happens with the reduced engine power? I'm thinking about pulling the active grill shutter and dealing with the engine light.
