I installed the kit myself and just need to program the fobs....the dealership wants $180 just to program the fobs....yikes!
I called a local locksmith and they want $75.....i'm assuming its the same thing? they said they can program the keyfobs, so I guess i'll give it a shot...??

***DISREGARD*** HAS TO BE DEALER DUE TO PROGRAMMING- thanks

Now you route the green wire to the black plug on the bcm and plug it into pin 24, pin 24 may or may not have a green and brown striped wire already in it that you will need to remove and tape back. The green arrow is pointing to the wire I removed and the red arrows point to the wire from the harness I connected in its place.

After this you are done accept for dealer programming and applying some automotive silicone sealer to the point where the harness enters the cab through the grommet to seal the cut you made.

I hope this helps some of you guys, If you have any other questions I will try to answer them

So do I have to remove a kick panel under the steering wheel to access this body control module block?

Greetings. Just wondering if it's normal for the check engine light to come on after installing my hood latch kit. I did have to remove the green brown wire from pin 24 to insert my green wire. Scheduled an appt to have remote start activated and fobs programmed in a couple days. Was just curious if the check engine light on is normal until I have it programmed? Thabks so much...

Greetings. I am throwing a code now I am guessing cause there is nothing plugged into the plug that was from the original hood latch. Does something get done from the dealer when I get the remote start activated or do I need to do some thing with the old wires and plug? Attached is the error I pulled from the computer thank you!!!

With the new latch does your trucks vehicle information center show the hood open If it’s not fully latched now?

If it's a new install you have to have it programed first then it shows up.

Just wondering as I have a 2018 and I have the latch with the three wires and the same part number, but mine doesn’t have any message in the DIC when the hoods open.

I just successfully enabled the remote start in my 2500HD.  It came with a few snags.

I installed a brand new GM hood latch with switch.  My vehicle already had the harness leading up to the hood latch with just a cap on the end of the harness.

In my experience GM fob (guts) are not specific to with remote start, or rear power liftgate (tahoe).  I just bought new cases for my remotes.  My old ones did not have the start icon.  The new cases had the start icon and easily accepted the old guts.  I tested RF with my Bartec TPMS tool and all buttons were giving signal.

I assumed it would be "plug and play".  It was not.  I used my Snap On Solus to attempt a remote re-program.  Still no remote start.

I took the truck to GM dealer #1.  A buddy of mine is a service writer, so he pulled me a favor and got it hooked up.   The service writer said my vehicle did not have an option for remote start, and could not be programmed.   He also told me I had the wrong remote(s) for my truck.  This really was no favor to me.

I took my truck to GM dealer #2.  Another buddy of mine worked there, but my discount was going to be as good as dealer#1.   Again, he told me there was no option for enabling remote start in the BCM programming.  He has done these in the past.  The software option is there on his GM factory computer.

He went out on a limb and called GM.  He did not give me the number, but he had to use his subscription password to get in.  He explained that I used genuine GM parts to complete the job.  They said that I would have had to have purchased a genuine GM "remote start kit" to get the software.  They said there is an authorization code in the kit that allows the software update.  Unfortunately, I did not have that code, because I bought the components separately.   Finally after some smooth talking, GM agreed to release software.  It took about 30 seconds.  It updated my BCM software in the GM database.

The tech went back to my truck, and downloaded the BCM software, and there were several updates/changes.  #1  My hood showed ajar in the dash.  #2.  My door dinger got less annoying.  It stopped beeping with key in ignition and door open.   #3,  I had remote start.

What I learned:   Buy the GM kit, not just the individual parts.  Ensure that you have the GM authorization code.  Install a hood latch and possibly wiring harness.  Have GM dealer program it.  $400 later,  ($218 for the kit, $180 for programming) you'll have GM remote start.

When I was finished buying remote cases, and a GM hood latch, I spent $80 and a $8 at Subway for my buddy who worked there at the first dealership, $220 at the second.  $38 on the hood latch, $20 for two fob cases, and wasted from 9AM to 5:30 PM driving to and waiting at two separate dealers.
