@Marv88  That's awesome! I'm a huge Alpine fan so This is getting even more interesting for me.  I'm using the Alpine Direct fit Silverado 8'' in the doors and 3'' in the dash, don't know if you remember that. I can't wait to see your speakers, Japan definitely gets way cooler stuff than we do over here.

Here's my two favorite Old school Japan Alpine decks that I own, The 7909J and the 7620J

Those are sweet and I remember you have the direct fit Alpine setup as well as the collection of Alpine gear! Back in the day I had stuff like the Sony C90, Clarion DRZ9255, Pioneer P1R, Pioneer P9 Combo, a couple of Eclipse models I can't remember etc as well as an Alpine 7909 but I never had any of the cool Japan spec models like those. ?

A little progress I made on the wiring. After reading of numerous people having trouble getting wire through the firewall in these trucks I decided to go under the truck. There are several plastic plugs on the floor and one just happened to be right under where the amp will be so I drilled that one out to install the waterproof compression style grommet.

I ran the wire through the gaps under the body supports and zip tied it to some wires behind the wheel well liner and right up to the battery.

The wire came out right behind the jack (I'm going to put a fused distribution block there so I can run another wire for when i get the power seat) and I also found a convenient grounding spot which is a stud under the passenger seat.

Well this is just a start. I am sealing thr front doors and using butyl rubber as well (i orderedto much so you can have the rest) amd im putting open cell foam in the dash since the mid/tweeter im using is open in the back. Not sealed like a normal tweeter and i got pods from that guy in germany for the a pillar

A friend saw all my Alpine gear laid out on the bench and said it would be great to have something like that in the '65 Mustang he's building with his handy capable son so I let them have it and I'm going back to a diy 2 way active setup.

I decided to use the ScanSpeak Illuminator ring radiator tweeters that typically like to be more on axis and original plan was to use pods on top of the dash or A pillar however after a bit more experimenting with polarity/levels/crossover point and adding some foam rings I was actually able to get a coherent stage with good height/depth so I just installed them in the factory dash location  (I made the adapters from 1/4" abs plastic).

I'm not sure which mids I'll use (most likely the ScanSpeaker Revelators from my El Camino if I can find them or the ARC Audio Reference Series I got from my buddy who owns the local shop) but I'm going to use my JL xd700/5 to bi amp the front stage since it has a built in bandpass crossover which is the only tuning feature my headunits processor doesn't have. I also had a feeling  the single 8" sub I gave up for the Mustang project would not have been enough for me anyway so I'll probably use the JL 10tw3 I have since I already have the enclosure built for that one.

Yeah that's area is wide open and I'd bet sealing it with foam would even make the factory mids sound better!
