66deadhead
who uses a brush style car wash on anything? Amen !! Not me.
mookdoc6
Most GM dealerships have car washes! They are the automatic cloth brush type. Yup, your car before taking delivery most likely went through theirs along with the ESCALADE<VETTE etc! The process was already started for ya! Even touchless will spray crap on your car! Your house bucket and towel, soft water etc. you get the drift is the best. If you live in the snowbelt I understand hitting the automatics you kinda have too just hit the cloth ones. DaveHC
Poor ford, some idiot in design who sold them on using beer cans to build a truck i bet lost his job. I hope the gm all aluminum motors dont end up biting us in the ass in the long run.
MikeNH
You guys realize that GM is all but certain to use aluminum in their next trucks right? Even the fools who made that stupid bed durability video will have to backpedal. As for aluminum motors, they've been around for decades and their reliability is proven. StillOffshore
As for aluminum motors, they've been around for decades and their reliability is proven. Yep. Nobody that I know (yes, I understand a small group), cared for the idea of an aluminum block. But now they're apparently the norm.
Colossus
It may all be marketing but Ford absolutely did use aluminum beds in a test fleet at a mine on previous generation trucks. And purposely misspelling Ford makes you and everyone else who does this look foolish. If you want to be taken serious. act like a damn adult. Calm down MIkey, pull your pants down and slide on the ice a bit.
mookdoc6
The comical part is GM has the antenna mounted off the fender anyway for 2014+ models.......I mean nothing but stupid people at GM once again! FERD could have put the antenna post in same spot as GM. But hey they invented the ecoboost for FULL SIZE PICKUPS to pull 10,000lb campers! I just could not smoke enough weed and pull something up through the mountains with that weight and engine? Call me crazy!
BlueTopaz14
With two Chevrolet's in the garage I'm clearly not a Ford fan... I test drove F150s a few years ago when I got my first GM truck (2014 model years) that entry level F150 STX was the same cost as the middle of the road SLE GMC on a lease. The F150 just felt cheap. The panels are super thin on both my 2016 Malibu and 2016 Silverado and I'm sure the antenna would get ripped off my truck in a brush car was too but, I'd NEVER run my car or truck thorough a brush wash. I do touchless now and then but, you gotta just suck it up and wash that thing by hand.It wouldn't. I've forgotten and taken mine through a car wash (2014 Silverado) exactly as it describes. No harm done. Would I recommend it, no. But it wouldn't just rip it out like that, at most it would bend but mine didn't even do that lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Colossus
I'm just surprised that they are still putting antennas on via masts. I've had a number of vehicles with antennas embedded in the rear window and the radio reception was just fine. No protruding long ugly antenna to worry about. calgator73
I've run my 2015 2500 through the car wash practically everyday for the last year. Those rotary beaters bend that antenna every which way while in the wash but I've not had one single issue. The only problem are these kids that can't listen and try to use the wrong size wrench to take it off. Black paint is chipped at the bottom now...grr Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk

I feel like those antennas don't preform as well as mast ones, especially in rural areas. Part of that for me though is several of the stations I like are out of Boston which is a decent distance from here.

I wonder if they'll use an aluminum box w/ an interior box panel similar to the "plastic" used in box liners? That being said, the rumours of the materials for the '18 made the decision to get a '17 really easy.

Rvduck
I never would consider using a car wash of any kind with my two newer vehicles. My 94 Corolla gets that kind of abuse every now and then. That is what automatic car washes are made for, old beaters.
