Arth: Damn. Do you know if the HID bulbs are different from the LT to SLE? there is a guy i work with who has a 2016 Silverado LT Z71 cc and his headlights have the purple hue to them also. My headlights in my sierra are almost like a white

Purple hue was a HID bulb that was going bad.  I have the 2016 Sierra SLE and I have the factory hid.  Love them...when they work.  I have the passenger side that will not come on some times.  Starting to think it’s a bcm, but not ready to drop cash for dealer to program new one.

That could be the bcm I suppose, but it’s more likely the igniter or ballast. In these trucks, the igniter and ballast is integrated into the bulbs. They’re d5s bulbs. One thing you could do is swap the bulbs from side to side. If the problem moves it’s the bulb, or if it doesn’t, it could be a ground, relay, or something else upstream. Or, as you said, perhaps the bcm. I’ve never heard of it doing that though.

So I swapped bulbs, replaced bulbs, and still had the issue.  I ended up adding a jumper between the two yellow wires on pins 6-7 that control the headlights from BCM....and just like that zero issues.  I would guess the output circuit was not strong enough to power the ballast on the passenger side.  I know this isn’t a desired fix and perhaps I’ll build a pair of relays to offset the draw on the bcm.  I’m having a bunch of phantom electrical issues and know why they traded this truck in.

No one gets rid of a good vehicle.
