A problem I can't figure out

Recommended Posts

My truck continues to cut out after having replaced the IAC sensor, fuel pump, and my cats. I got my truck in March 2016 and this is the first problem I have had. I will be driving on the interstate for a while around 70MPH and it cuts out. I can't figure this out and it would be much appreciated if someone knows about this problem.

Need more details.

1. Does the engine cutoff completely or just stumble and if it does cut off completely does it restart easily?

2. When this happens do you get any strange behaviour in the dash gauge cluster?

3. What mods does your truck have (aftermarket alarm/Radio swap/Amps/off road lights etc)

1. It used to cut off completely before I changed the fuel pump but now it kinda jerks and the rpm needle does not respond for a few seconds. It used to cut out at any mph but now it is around 65 or 70.

2. When it used to cut out and die it would read oil pressure low but my oil pressure was fine but besides that nothing.

3. I don't know if a Walker Emissions Catalytic Converter is aftermarket but that is what I replaced my cats with. I ordered it from Rock Auto because everywhere else was to expensive. I did not changed the O2 sensors because they looked fine. That is all I have done.

My truck will not start now so all together I have changed my plugs, wires, distributor cap, camshaft sensor, IAC sensor, MAF sensor, battery, my cats, fuel pump (does not have an inline fuel filter), Ignition control module, and ignition coil. What do yall think? I cannot figure this out.

This may sound stupid, but I had a similar problem on my old truck last year. I had a 1995 GMC that had 277,000 miles on it, and it would run ok for a little while but then die on me. Sometimes it would start back up and other times it wouldn't. It turns out that the top of the gas tank had started to rust out, and water had gotten into the tank. It sounds too stupid to be true, but I was starting to go down the same road as you until we found the problem.
