Ceramic coating?

Has anyone applied ceramic coating such as Opti-Coat or one of the similar products? I am thinking about doing it on my black Sierra 1500 because it's so hard to keep clean and the pollen off of it. The truck is outside most of the time. Just wondering if anyone has done it and how it holds up, is it worth it, etc. It is pretty pricey ~ $1000 or so, but supposedly lasts for 5 or 7 years depending on the product.

My dad had it done.. It works fairly well on the body, but I personally do not think it is worth the money versus washing the track once a week or so. The other problem was that you need to make sure it is not applied AT ALL on your windows, most specifically the windshield. His windshield seems to always have a foggy-ness to it and when he gets dust/dirt on the windshield it is really hard to get completely off. Maybe this was the fault of the dealer not applying/masking it properly. Not sure about that

I had it done by a local guy here outside of Philadelphia. Charged me 700.00 and guaranteed the product for LIFE! The truck is silver and it ALWAYS looks washed. It gets dusty in the refinery where I work, a quick hose off and it's clean! I drive it around the block after hosing it off to let the water beads run off, hell..... I barely have to dry it! I love it!

I had it done by a local guy here outside of Philadelphia. Charged me 700.00 and guaranteed the product for LIFE! The truck is silver and it ALWAYS looks washed. It gets dusty in the refinery where I work, a quick hose off and it's clean! I drive it around the block after hosing it off to let the water beads run off, hell..... I barely have to dry it! I love it!

I got it done for about 700 outside of Philly too, the place used cquartz pro. My biggest mistake was not having the coating put on when the truck was new because I needed a full paint correction/detail. No point in putting the coating on not perfect paint. I would never own another vehicle without a ceramic coating to be honest. I have had it for almost a year now. If you clean the vehicle by hand yourself, makes it a lot easier. Also it apparently is supposed to last 4 to 5 years.

I just had Optimum Gloss Coat applied about a month ago, cost $300 for the coating, another $400 for paint correction before he applied the coating (I have a black Midnight Edition and the it needed some paint correction new off the lot). It only last for 2 years then it needs to be reapplied, unlike Opti-Pro or cquartz which last much longer.

Thanks for the input. I think I'm going to look into having it done. I'm being quoted around $1200 for the Opti-coat pro + which is 7 years warranty and includes paint correction. Despite the fact my truck is less than a month old, it actually had a few scratches on it after they detailed it at the dealership (noticed them right after I got home of course) and the detailer showed me 2 places the truck was repainted after it left the factory because there is a small amount of dirt in the paint (apparently this happens 50-60% of the time according to him) probably due to damage in transit. In any case, it's going to be $1200 total for the Opti-coat pro +, the rim ceramic treatment, and the glass product for all the windows.

It's a lot up front, but if you have OCD like about you paint like I do it is 100 percent worth it.
