TURN OFF the Seatbelt Chime

One response with a very short wear your seatbelt...albeit in caps. Yep, lots of guys posting speeches.

This isn't the first thread on this forum about this topic. My comment was that it always happens, I didn't say "lots".

I ordered this from Amazon. I'll post when I get them in but I'm hoping it can solve the issue with a nice little bonus.

Wow 2 things that don't go together, drinking and not wearing your seatbelt.

Makes a good combo.

Yes, Thank You so much for all your positive input. I really appreciate it guys. It is unfortunate but at times I do have to drive without a seatbelt and that chime is driving me nuts. And for the one guy who added nothing to this post, well… I think were all thinking the same thing thanks guys, have a great day.

Unplug the connector under the seat? Did that on all my other trucks but have not looked at the '14

I thought about unplugging the connector, but it is really down there and much more of a hassle to unplug and replug. I don't know if it would be considered tampering with safety equipment and/or if insurance would matter for that in the event you got into an accident.

Personally I think the clip with the bottle opener is the best thing. You can keep it in the truck for when you need to use it and doubles as a bottle opened for tailgaiting/camping.

First time our dog set off mine, I didn't realize the lights are on the upper console thingie. I heard dinging and figured it was from dog sitting in the front passenger seat but I couldn't locate a flashing light anywhere on dash. Then I panicked and started thinking something else was wrong. The flashing light finally caught my eye. Seems like an odd place for it.

Haha ya same thing with me, but I was checking all the doors. Then as I was doing it she jumped in the back seat and it went away. Got really confused when it came back.

If you unplug the connected to the seatbelt system it will also affect the airbag system. The airbag system relies on the seatbelt in use indicator and the seat weight system to determine what deployment speed to use on the airbag. As said that can lead to civil and criminal liabilities if someone is ever in your vehicle and gets hurt. If you are going to do it then just buy the male end from a salvage yard and plug it into the seatbelt.

I just bought a 2017 Silverado 1500. I'm assuming locating and disconnecting the plug will work on the newer 1500's? Anyone actually have luck locating the seat belt plug near the driver seat buckle and unplugging it with success?

I have yet to get under the seat and look, but can't imagine they've made it easy to access without removing the seat or center console.

Most auto manufactures have a sequence of buckling/unbuckling, cutting engine/starting ignition.... to deactivate the seat belt warning. I'm shocked Chevrolet does not have this.

Agreed: in the woods, on the farm, hunting... all at extremely low speeds, no traffic and multiple times in and out of the vehicle warrant a fix to this issue.

Its always funny reading the same old tired nonsolutions on domestic boards :)

Buckle your belt, put a junk yard buckle into slot, your going to die !!! without it :):)

Well many of us truck users work on jobs very low speed or plow snow slowly and must twist turn to look behind to be safe. and why do we need to be nagged with annoying alarm when a simple flashing light is all you need ? BTW your GM service dept can drastically LOWER VOLUME of alarm more than you can with menu choices on infotainment system. If they say they can't tell them call GM cause it can be done. For those who don't mind being constantly loudly nagged do nothing :)

Most the other trucks have a simple on off seat belt buckle sequence readily explained  on youtube but GM you have to have an advanced OBD scanner and you simply change the audio alarms. you simply turn off the seat belt alarm usually under Dashboard scan. Read up on what scanner will work and how for you.

Let others here know what worked and how
