AC/HVAC Problems with GM pick-up trucks

Hey guys,

I've got this issue at hand and I really don't know how to address it because my lame dealership's answer to everything is "This is how it is. This is how GM built it!!"

Now we all know that in all our GM pick-up trucks (2014 and up) all we have is 4 AC vents in the dashboard.

I have a 2016 Sierra Denali and the vent in the dashboard next to the passenger side window blows at least 50% (if not more) lesser air than my other vents. I took it to the dealership and they say "you can compare it to any other truck here in our lot and you will see it's the same." So I compared it to my friend's identical truck which he picked just a month before me (Also 2016 Sierra Denali) and his AC was working much better than mine. Even in his truck that specific vent blows out lesser air than the other vents but not as less as mine. I reported this to the dealership and showed them both trucks for comparison however they very ignorantly keep saying it's the same when it absolutely isn't.

Anybody else face this issue (With their AC, not the dealership that is)? And if you did, how did you overcome it?

I look forward to your help and advise.

Best regards.

I had heard GM changed the way the HVAC system works for 2016 because of complaints about not having rear A/C vents. They apparently rigged it up so more air flows out of the vents on either side of the center stack and to the backseat passengers.

That might be part of your problem.

Since you say your buddies truck doesn't have the same problem, I'd look for another dealership.

There was a thread already about this, its designed this way! heres the thread http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/187255-front-passenger-air-vent/?hl=passenger+side+vent&do=findComment&comment=1815235

^ to sum it up:

The fan is on the passenger side, the airflow is routed to the middle, there will always be reduced flow on the passenger side esp... since it makes a full U turn from the fan, even the GMT-800's & GMT-900's had some reduced flow.

The K2xx center vents can cool the entire cabin down faster than my 2013 Sierra Denali and 2005 CCSB, my 2005 had center console vents, AKA worthless vents.

Trust me when I tell you, adding sound damping material makes a HUGE difference in cabin cool down/heat up.

If was GM I would add a rear hvac system along with the head liner air passage route for rear passenger cooling, IMO I would also remove the sunroof if I ran the company.
