Front Seat Lateral Movement and/or Click Type Noise While Driving

Good news from my end. Dealership made repairs as per PI1138A. I see the parts were taken out of stock as per the procedure, and the click is gone. If you are affected by this issue, reference the PI1138A found in the links above, and have it applied to your truck. I think the solution would probably apply to the 2016's, as its the same seat from what I can see.

Important to note that when I took it in, they asked for a problem description, wanting to ensure the right process was applied. I said things like clicking, sudden jerky movements, driver side bottom cushion, going around corners, and out of drive ways. The service tech agreed that the PI1138A addresses those issues, and put the truck in for warranty repair - no charge.

For me - the issues is resolved, as per that update. Thanks for the contributions.

Cheers.

My 2016 just started doing this.

When I try to replicate it by making a sharp turn, it doesn't happen.

Then I'll pull into a drive thru and CLICK.

I haven't taken it in because I can't duplicate it on command.

All, I have a 2014 Crew Cab with believe it or not 725 miles and yes the date is 2/11/17. I have been given PIT5542 that states what the fix for the movement is but after reading this doubt it will work. The bulletin states that the service technician needs to grind .40" material to install the clip which sounds risky to me. What happens if they screw it up? and I have seen nobody on this string that has had this performed yet. I also have Safety Recall #15822C that needs performed on the seatbelt and from what I see they will cut the trim panel on the side of the seat which will then be an eyesore. Last Safety recall is GM 16007 for Airbag/restraint recall. I'm not sure any of these other than the programming for the airbag will be done at a satisfactory level on essentially a brand new truck. Has anybody had these done to any level of satisfaction?

I'm considering just trading the POS in. Extremely disappointing, I planned on keeping for a long time.

I've got a 2016 and had that issue. I took it into the dealership and discussed it with them. They did say the 2014-15 seats had issues but they told me that the 2016 seat design had changed. They also said they re-greased the slider/tracks and it did "fix" the issue for about 6 months. It's slowly returning. I'm planning on taking it back into the dealer soon to have them look at it again and also to get them to show me exactly what they greased. I thought it was a bit of a B.S. explanation and want to have this documented while it's under warranty.

Same issue with my 2016 Yukon. Seat creaks when going around corners. So annoying. Already did the one service bulletin replacing clips and such and lubing. Noise came back after a few months. Took it back, re-lubed...noise is slowly returning. . took it back for the 3rd time, replacing seat cover and mount...we shall see if it works. Warranty up in 200 miles :(  They said they will not continue to fix under warranty (even if the problem continues) because the seat is considered "trim" and that is not covered out of warranty even if the issue existed prior to warranty running out :(

I have a 2015 LTZ and the seat clunks noticeably to the right or left when you go around a corner.  I can make it do it when driving, especially on a curvy road, but not while stopped.  I sure would like to find there's a service bulletin so I could get it fixed for free.

First post on this site. Thought I would make it a good one.

GM has a TSB on this. Look at step 8. The lateral retainer is all I had to do.  I did have to trim it to get it to fit around a small plate that is welded to the round bar. There are instructions online for this but I cant find them right now.

Rather than taking my truck to the dealer, I chose to buy and install the part myself. At $6, it was cheaper than driving  to the dealership.

After 10K miles of the seat clicking every time I turned right, the problem was solved. Haven't heard it in the past 11k miles

My truck is a 2015. Although you have to trim the piece a little, it worked like a charm.

Although not the same vehicle, see this link for where I had to trim / modify the bracket

https://gm.oemdtc.com/4002/front-seat-movement-clunk-squeak-click-noise-or-shift-while-cornering-2011-2015-buick-chevrolet

From what I understand, in 2015, Chevy tried to fix the issue by welding tabs to the seat bracket where the seat cushion attaches to the front seat bracket bar. it didn't fix the issue. Therefore, the fix is listed for a 2014 only. Modifying the piece per the link above allowed me to use it on my 2015.

Obviously, I cannot guarantee that it will work on later years, I think its worth a try for only $6.

Its very simple to install just trim with a dremel, clip it on and zip tie it. Don't bother with all the other items in the TSB I posted in the earlier post.

BTW - I am not taking credit for this. Just passing on what I found out and tried after my dealer refused to do anything to fix it.
