Tailgate Holders

Recommended Posts

Okay maybe a stupid post but I put another set of cables on my truck to hold the tailgate when you lower it. This makes my 3rd set. So unless I'm just that rough on my truck what's the tally how many have you guys gone threw?

I've read about this so many times that I'm beginning to wonder if I shouldn't just replace them now, before they break. And my truck is only a year old. Wonder how long it's gonna be until the cable holding my spare snaps too. Like a rock my @ss... :D

Looks like from your previous post that you ARE pretty tough on your truck. Sounds pretty much "LIKE A ROCK" to me!! Awesome story below. If all you need is tailgate cables.... I think that is pretty tough!! :D

"And in my buddy pulls our LX665 Superboom. Around 5500lbs without counter weights and bucket, which it had both on. You want to see your truck squat well this puts the hurt on the HD. Blocked up the inner fenders to keep from absolutely destroying them. I didn't have a camera or I would post a pic. Took it to the shop and unloaded it with a 235 and straps I was like ha ain't seeing them fords and Dodges doing that.. "

Have your cables been snapping. This could be a problem when the back wheels of my fourwheeler are on the tailgate.

Thanks

Yep I've broken the original set and 2 sets since then.. This is my third set... All bought from GM... I also put my 400EX and my buddies 300 on the back tailgate so this could be an issue..

As far as me being hard on my truck I'm probably to hard on it.. I have no room to b!tch whatsoever. Most of the time when I over "use" my truck it's because I don't want to deal with driving a bigger truck with a bigger trailer. So needless to say you abuse it it's going to brake but the Chevy has yet to not do something I asked it too. If I had it to do over again I would probably tell the company to screw off and keep my trucks nice like you guys and then have a nice truck to drive around and show off...

After breaking a set of cables, I went to a j/y and got the metal bars, havent broken one of those yet. I'm not sure if they'd work on the 99+ trucks however.

Steel holder like on the older trucks would be the way to go..
