Can the Tow mirrors be replaced with standard mirrors.

I am looking at buying a 2017 Silverado 1500 5.3 with the max tow package. Unfortunately you can only get that with the tow mirrors which are too wide for my garage doors. Does anyone know if those mirrors can be replaced with the standard mirrors and what the cost may be? Right now I have an 02 Silverado 5.3 with the 3.73 gears and I would really rather not go to the 3.42 gears because I like the power I have now.

Assuming the tow mirrors are the same (chromed with LEDs) as in my 2015, they are power folding. I always fold mine in with the push of a button when pulling in the garage.

I've spent a lot of time with my mirrors on my 2016 LT Crew Cab. I've converted from the Stnadard DL8 to the DL3. I had to add some wiring and harness work to make the all the functions of the new mirror to work. Your swap will depend on what mirror you want to swap it to, cross reference your existing wire harness connectors. Unfortunately, harnesses are different based on options and trim levels.

Rarely use it anyways. Truck lives outside and I'm hooked to a trailer about 2 or 3 times a week, be better visibility for me

Mine are the LT version mirrors non powerfold if you are interested. Caps are painted white but easily can be color matched to whatever color you are getting. If not its cool. Just giving you the option ( mirrors have 10k on them )

I definitely wouldn't give up the opportunity to get the tow mirrors, I would look at widening my garage door. I assume your garage is significantly wider inside or I would think you have bigger issues than just the mirrors! Mirrors are handy for backing in or out of the garage so folding may not be your first choice,

I wish when we built the garage I hadn't gone with the two 9" doors but they are there now. In order to change to a wider door I would have to replace the header, cut the foundation and replace the doors, a little too much for tow mirrors that I only use about 10% of the time but thanks for all the comments.

Find a truck with the 5.3 and 3.42's. If you like the power you have now the 3.42 behind the new 5.3 has 70 more hp and 60 more ft lbs. The new truck has a much lower first gear with the 6 speed, you won't miss it and will have many more options than trying to find a max tow.
