Just got my 2016 silverado 2500hd 6.6 with less than 500 miles back fr

2016 silverado 2500hd 6.6 Midnight edition.

Just putting this out there.... Brand new truck, having two issues. 1st is that the low coolant message continually appears. Brought it to the dealership three times to have them fill it. After the change of the coolant tank and lid, and that not fixing the issue, they used a vacuum system and flushed/filled to ensure no air was trapped in the coolant system. According to the mechanic the sensor is very finicky in this model (I don't know if that's an excuse or cause).

2nd issue is the service park assist keeps coming on. At first it was only here and there and would go away, I assumed that water or dirt got in a sensor or something, but after they had it for a day, it would come on every time I started the truck. Apparently a brand new TSB has been issued for a software update to address this issue. And while my truck was there, a second truck came in with the same issue. Software updates done, and the issue has seemed to gone away.

I just got the truck back this afternoon, plan on taking it on a little road trip yet this weekend a few hours away. Wish me luck.

There is more to the story, but the dealership seems genuine and want me to have confidence in the truck, but with less than 500 miles on it, I am considering turning it in for a different truck. What do you guys think?

Crew cab... I do like the truck.... Just getting comfortable with it. Added steps and tonneau cover. I did get the 16%rebate and with that I think I got a fair deal. Still a lot of money for something that has issues.

Dealer has 30 day satisfaction deal... That they are extending for me another 30 days.... 7day money back... 30 day I can turn the truck in on another truck in their inventory.

While I agree way too many electronics- in the end it's the government (EPA & Safety related) demanding this, as well as the consumers. You have to stay competitive by doing better than the other manufacturers in the segment to sell the vehicles.

I'll keep mine stock as long as the emission system let's me. When it become too expensive to fix, I'll delete. We'll see how far she can go.

Give it a chance as SouthpawHD recommended, you said the dealer has fixed one sensor and working on the other issue. There not major problems just aggraviting type. Thats understandable its a nice new truck, go get to driving it it will work out fine. Yea new stuff should be flawless but its not. Happens to all just hang in there.

  • 3 weeks later...

Update - so back to the dealer yesterday. Today notified that they are replacing the head gasket apparently gm tech line said they have had reports of improper torque on the heads from factory. So that being said.... Would any of you keep this truck or would you trade it?
