They might be coming off.

As previously posted I've taken my Ranchand Assecories off the bed, front and rear of the truck. And noted that the truck not only seems quicker but the biggest thing would have to be that I'm now getting 12-13 mpg. You guys are like big whoop I'm like whoo hoo 12MPG my truck is a economy truck. I was so used to getting re g0!amn-ridc$*S gasmileage like 8 and 9 that having a stead 12 is worth leaving the bumpers off the truck.. Tell me what you would do.

I think it just depends on need, contrasted against cosmetics. I was wanting to put similar stuff on my 1/2 ton Z71 in the signature below, until I read on this board that the stock bumper weighed about 40 pounds or so, and the Ranchhand bumpers averaged 250 pounds. Add to that fact that MAYBE such bumpers clobber what little aerodynamics these trucks have, hence the mileage hurts.

Again, I think it depends on need.... Maybe if gasoline was a buck/gallon.

Yep sucks though because I have the intial investment in the bumpers and then I told the guy to go ahead and re powder coat the bumpers so I'm in the hole more with that. I might just wait until winter then put them back on for the protection aspects they offer.

Heck I'd take em off in a heartbeat if I was in your shoes. I didn't buy my truck expecting to get good mileage but 2 or 3 miles per gallon is a big increase when you get 11 or 13mpg average. If you have a 29 gallon tank like me (not sure what you have) an extra 2 mpg also means 58 more miles between fillups!

The owner's manual for my F250 says as a rule of thumb you lose about 1mpg for every 400lbs you add to the truck so what your saying sounds about right.

I strongly believe that my fiberglass cap reduces MPG's!!! I know it's only a few hundred pounds, but I really think it creates slot of wind drag betwen the cap and cab, and behind the truck too...

I think add-ons will reduce fuel economy!!!
