Help me Select Exhaust

Recommended Posts

Wait...so the GM Borla is only available in the touring model? I did not know that. I specifically wanted the S-type. Touring is too quiet for the money over stock, and I think the Atak might be too loud.

I went through this very dilemma myself in the last few months. My thoughts:

I wouldn't get the GM Borla....personally not enough sound gain over stock for the $$.

I didn't like the magnaflow too much either....although nice deeper rumble, also thought too quiet.

I had actually just about convinced myself to get a Gibson sport because of decent sound and cheap, but I heard way too many stories about poor fit and leaking.

Same goes for the MBRP and I, personally didn't really like the sound, a little too raspy for me.

Really like the Flowmaster outlaw, but don't make for 2016 6.2L.

Same goes for Volant.

Pretty much made my way full circle to my 2 all-time favorites Borla (S or atak) and Corsa (sport or dB), just didn't want to spend that much money.

After hours of shopping around, finally just bit the bullet and bought the Corsa sport for 1000.

Going on Saturday...I'll let you know my thoughts...I had one on my LT1 camaro for a long time and loved it.

That's pretty much what I've concluded. Now this dang gm corsa has me intrigued. Let me know what you think on the corsa sport.

I've done a bunch of research and read 100s of pages on this forum. I've narrowed it down to two choices. First, is the GM Borla, which is about $1k plus the cost of the tips. I understand this is not a loud exhaust, but shouldn't have any drone, and should sound very "professional." Second, for some reason, I like the idea of the MagnaFlow Offroad Pro. I have a custom tune, and my guy can turn off the AFM, but i do have concerns that the Magna Flow will be too loud and not last as long as the higher quality Borla. Then again, the cost of the MagnaFlow is 1/2 the cost of the GM Borla. I drive about 25k miles per year, so I'm leaning towards the more conservative route, but was hoping someone might convince me the other way. Thanks in advance.

I've got about 3,500 miles on my MagnaFlow off-road exhaust. The day I went to install, the band clamp broke that goes from the third cat to the new pipe, so I ended up driving to the dealer about three miles away without anything after the third cat. It was loud but in the cab, not as loud as I'd have expected. After spending way to much for the silly clamp I was able to install the new MF offroad kit (I wish it came with the band clamp). I have a small leak at the third segment but nothing I can't live with and I don't smell anything in the cab. The day I installed it was before a 180 mile trip. On the maiden voyage as soon as I merged onto the expressway for the trip I got a thumbs up from two people in another vehicle. I thought it seemed too quiet after the first start but since I've installed it about a month ago I have got a lot of complements on how good it sounds. Cold start is louder, how I wish it sounded all the time, but overall I'm happy. I love the raspy sound it makes at WOT shifting.

Pirate, the S type was on my short list as well - love the sound. Looks like it's slightly cheaper in price than the GM version (touring), but obviously louder. Good news that you're not getting much drone.

x2 for the S-Type. Black tips and will be adding headers eventually.

Night and day sound difference - not a performance difference you could feel, besides the rumble.

Ha I totally recognize that highway, merging on M59 at... Rochester... Eastbound? Sounds really great in the cab. Any drone? Would love to hear that in person, I really don't know what to do with mine right now.

Yep, I was headed to inline tube for some brake and fuel lines for my 95 silverado from Troy. There is cab drone and the v4 sounds like a jbrake or helicopter, so I bought the range device but I'm now considering the diablo tune or something similar. One month with the range device and now I have service stabilitrac and brake assist warnings...

Sounds like a pain in the arse. I may have just changed my mind completely - I see where I can get the GM performance exhaust by Corsa (not the borla one) for less than $1k shipped. I'm guessing there won't be much drone, but should be louder than the Borla touring GM version. Thanks for all of the feedback.
