Rust protection/ Undercoating

Recommended Posts

This is the product you want, the aerosol spray it has a little more gloss look. The factory machines that carry the frame down the assembly line will have 4 spots of frame that are un coated b/c the machine rubbed it off, plus anything thing else during assembly. let me see if can grab some pics.

Sweet, that would be awesome! I just want something that is going to last and protect the frame well.

Its best to pick up a 12 pack of cans and per can price is better than single, over time tire rotations and other repairs you'll need a few cans on hand. Didn't get pic of the front where the factory machine grabs the frame, but below you'll see the rear hole mount from the frame machine all patched up for now.

I've been brushing/spraying fluid film on for 2-1/2 years now. Zero rust and my factory wax hasn't fallen off. I'd almost prefer if the factory wax fell off though. That stuff causes more corrosion than it prevents. With the poor adhesion, the factory wax pulls salty water in between the frame and itself. That's why all the guys with rust problems have rust forming at the edges of various surfaces of the frame. I'm worried about what the frame looks like on the inside of the rails. There could be HUGE patches of wax that have peeled off. I found a website that sells a long, flexible sprayer that you can use to apply FF to the inside of the rails. I plan on soaking the inside of the rails every year. It's 10x more effective than a firm, flakey wax.

I really wish GM would do something else. The factory wax is a PITA and doesn't work.

I'm gonna do the same. Do you think a 2 gal compressor would work to spray FF with the FF sprayer??

Hey guys after two stations down south I'm moving to Maine for my third. Being from the south my whole life what can I do to protect my underbody. I read through the pages and see the different products to use but I'd hate for my truck that I bought to last the next 15 years turns into a rust bucket from the north.

Not worried about driving in the weather more about how to protect my truck.
