In a comprehensive test of the midsize pickup truck models available now, Cars.com chose the 2016 GMC Canyon as the top truck. That news may be overshadowed by the fact that the Honda Ridgeline finished ahead of the Chevy Colorado in the comparison rankings.

On-road, whether empty or loaded to 90% of its maximum capacity, the Ridgeline was the fastest truck in 0-60 MPH testing, and in the quarter mile. The Ridgeline also had the best empty-bed mileage and second best mileage when loaded to 90%.

The editors had many good things to say about the Canyon, including, "...the GMC Canyon won this competition by keeping a slow and steady pace in each and every event." They went on to say "Many of our experts commented on how well-balanced and confident the truck felt while on the track, driving around country roads and even at the off-road park."

The Colorado Z71 also drew praise form the testers, who said "the Colorado's technological standout feature was the multimedia system with Apple CarPlay." There is a simple reason the Colorado did not win. Check it out in the story here.

it is funny, the gmc is still doing something a bit different to gain.

I bet its the reciprocating blinker. :)

they have been at it a long time.

I finally saw one at a new dealer, bangor maine.

a fancy z71.. looked like avalanche fairings on the back.

hard to imagine it weighs as much as the half ton below in the photo.

Yup. And in a world where 99% of trucks will only see pavement their entire life.....

Not in my neck of the woods. Every other truck around here sees mud and dirt quite often, not all roads are paved either. That Honda would be laughed at. It's officially a SUT, Sports utility truck, not a truck. Closer to a mini van than a real truck. It's a good vehicle, but doesn't belong in the same category as the Colorado. Should be with other SUVs and mini vans in comparison.
