max tow with 6.0 4.10gears

Max I have pulled 12,200. Really long climbs are interesting as the truck wants to shift to get more power than it really needs so I use manual mode. Other than that, just make sure you know where all the gas stations are!

Edit: ...and I do have 4.10 gears. Also, that weight was using the receiver hitch. I have a goosneck as well, but it has not been close to that weight.

My parents have a Jayco HT fifth wheel camper that has a dry weight of around 8,000lbs. Their 2015 2500HD (with the 6.0 and 4:10) yanks it around just fine. It just gets a little thirsty when pushing the speed. Not bad on two-lane highways though.

Yeah im thinking about leaning more toward something of a dry weight around 8,000 lbs. I think it will handle that no problem?

When you factor in other payload, etc. to the truck, the 8,000lbs dry sounds like the winner to me.

With a 5th wheel that weighs 10,000 lbs you will have a load of 2500 lbs. on the rear axle and its tires that needs to be added to the dry weight of the truck at the rear with the bed empty. I would guess that it is about 3,000 lbs for the truck alone and 5500 plus for the truck with the 5th wheel trailer in tow. Be sure that you truck's tires are each rated for 3,000 or more pounds or upgrade them.
