In all honesty, How does your wife react when..

My wife and I had a long weekend of financial discussions when we she was still my fiancé. We both work, and decided that every month each of us would get $500 deposited into our own checking account, and the remainder would go into the joint account. We use our individual accounts for clothes, shoes, guns, jewelry, happy hour drinks with co-workers, going out to eat for lunch, holiday gifts for each other, etc. That way she doesn’t care if I drop several hundred dollars on ammo, and I don’t care if she spends who-knows-how-much on a purse. After having a baby we dropped that amount to $300/month. It really makes you prioritize your “fun” spending. It’s actually made us better at budgeting our money overall, I’ve gone from just putting the minimum into my 401k to get the match, to maxing it out in just a few years.

To add to my last my last post......I have been hinting at wanting to have another Jeep for a few months now and the reaction I have been getting from here isn't a good one. She just says "I just don't think it's a good idea right now", whatever that means.....I came home with a new 2016 Jeep Wrangler Sport, got rid of a car that was starting to have little issues.

She didn't really seem to care for my Jeep purchase, I could tell just by the way she looked at me when I pulled into the garage (you guys know that look!).

Today before work, I stopped over the farm where her horses are and she was unloading a horse I haven't seen before from a trailer. I parked the Jeep and wondered over to see what she was up to and she looks at me, smiles and says, "now we're even"! She now has another horse to tend to and train. I guess that's an even trade off in undiscussed purchases?

I think you were set up. If you have been married long enough, she knew you would do it anyway and was just waiting......

Ditto. Women are much more shrewd than we probably give them credit for.
