2014 Silverado Transmission issues after tune

Recommended Posts

So i have had the Diablosport i2 in the truck for about 3 weeks. I did the 87 octane tune and the firm shift tune. The transmission tune was just too harsh for my liking. Last night, I stepped on it (I never step on it to where the truck redlines and shifts into the gear) and the truck shifted so hard into 3rd that it triggered traction control and and it felt like I got rear ended. Went home, return the truck back to stock and instead applied only the 87 octane tune. On my way to work this morning, the truck is slipping as it tries to shift into every single gear. I think it may have damaged something or it wore out the transmission due to shift pressure. I am going to revert back to the factory tune and see if it continues to do it but man, I am not a happy camper right now. Anyone experience this?

Yes if there is an issue with anything in the drive line a tune is good a rooting it out.

May have had the issue before the tune but that triggered it.

Modding has a price some times.

Replaced a few flexplates and clutches over my years ha ha.

I used to put shift kits in old trans to get more life out of them, doubt that one hard shift caused damage. I just recently stop doing hard shift tunes, use them in all my tow vehicles usually got longer life than not using them. Only one failure, my fault in my trail blazer ss. I use to half throttle blast just before 1-2 shift to get a good bark out of second gear lost a clutch in second at 80K miles. Got replaced under warranty.

So it seems to have gone away this morning, still slightly there but its always been like that. Only thing I can think of is that the transmission was readjusting to the change in pressure. Maybe the TCM was re-calibrating itself as I drove. Who knows.

Slipping is gone but decided to floor it today and that nasty shift kick at redline is still there. Going to remove the tune completely and go back to stock and try again in a couple days. Starting to sound like I have a driveline issue. I'll post back on the next attempt.
