2500HD Horror Story

Recommended Posts

Bought new 3/4 ton truck to pull a travel trailer. Stabilitrak, ABS, and BRAKE lights came on for the first time at 2500 miles. Brought it to three dealers a total of six times and it's still not fixed. I'm yet to take a trip without having my dash light up with warning lights with the trailer brakes failing. Getting nowhere with Chevy customer service. District manager told the dealer he's not escalating my case for repurchase. He won't talk to me or explain anything. Now I have to go through arbitration to get GM to stand behind the vehicle. I will never again purchase a GM vehicle.

One time I had a problem with a vehicle. It was a 94 dodge diesel auto trans. They had clips on the transmission lines that would vibrate out an lose the fluid. They couldn't make it stop, I could but they couldn't do any to change it from factory. Finally they called it a safety issue and gave me my money back as long as I got another dodge I did a stick. Seems to me they should do the same with you, definite safety issue.

Had GM been helpful in any way, I might have considered a replacement Chevy truck, but after days of getting bounced around by GM customer service and nobody calling me back when they say they will and service managers telling me it's my problem, I'm done with GM.

Unfortunately issues like you are experiencing are directly tied to insufficient quality control, either at component or assembly level. What I find very annoying is that GM pretends that exporting part manufacturing and truck assembly to third world countries totake advantage of cheap labor somehow does not affect quality at all so they should not bother to respond when a customer has serious issues like you are describing. I think GM has cut quality control across the board to maximize profits, and this negatively affects even domestic truck manufacturing.

Most likely you have some intermittent electrical problem related to a defective wire harness, connectors which are not fully seated somewhere, or some defective module.

Is this with the trailer connected or just driving the truck?

What if it was proven that they have NOT cut costs but rather have improved their quality control and that parts made in China or Mexico are no better or worse vs those made in the USA?
