Denali cluster in SLT

Wow, thank you for that.  There is no way I’m going through that entire process just to change the panel. Taking the entire plastic trim off the vehicle is not what I had in mind when I decided to do this.  I thought it would be a 15 minute swap out from what I saw in the videos.

Appreciate all the help, the Yukon swap won’t be happening.

Time guide shows for the SUV cluster replacement (not including programming) is 1.2 hours warranty and 1.8 hours for CP (customer pay).  Skill level B.  The money you have into this, at the least, pay someone to replace it.

Thank you very much.  It does seem pretty involved.  I’d very much like to get it done.  The problem is that I have no idea who would even do this type of thing.  I’m assuming a dealer wouldn’t do it do to it not being a part actually for my vehicle.

Any good stereo installer should be able to help...they take a lot of stuff apart on many different vehicles and I would guess they could do it.

Well, and this is just my opinion, but I don’t think it worth doing on a Yukon.  It’s a way more involved job than doing it on a Sierra and you are taking things apart that probably shouldn’t be taken apart unless they absolutely have to be.  If you look at the install on this you essenatally have to remove the entire trim of the driver side (cup holders, starter, air vents, everything) just to make this happen.  I wish I would have seen that install document beforehand, but live and learn.

It also raises the question of anything going wrong with it.  It’s not like I could just pop the old one back in like you can do on a truck and I highly doubt a dealer is going to honor any type of malfunction of the electrical with this installed.  My plan was to remove it if it needed to go to a dealer and then put it back in.  This obviously won’t work for that.

Again, this is all on me because I thought it would be the same as it was on a truck and I should have investigated more.  Thanks everyone for all of the help but there is no way I’m paying more money for someone to do this and risk damage to my vehicle because of how involved this installation is.  I’m going to cut my losses and see if I can make some money back on eBay.

Edit:  Also thanks to White Auto and Media for the quick turnaround time.  Great service.

I just looked at the document.  I'm guessing you are the type that's afraid to change your own oil.  It doesn't look hard at all; I literally had to remove more screws changing the oil in my wife's last Audi than doing that swap.  You really shouldn't be dissuading others from doing what looks like a pretty basic swap.

That’s why I prefaced my statement with “in my opinion.”. Congratulations on changing the oil in your wife’s Audi.  You are a big man and I’m very proud of you.

Not the first time you said it:

A word of warning, if you are thinking about doing this on a Yukon I don't recommend it.

Yawn; I gave one simple example.  I've had a hell of a lot more dash apart than that on other vehicles without issue.  Not everyone is afraid of a wrench and the common assumption on a vehicle message forum is that many members don't have the fear - and it is fear - that you have.

Hahaha, I truly hope I can be like you one day.   Changing oil in Audi’s and taking apart dashes.  You are my idol.

I hate that you’ve decided to not install the cluster. I installed it on my Yukon along with adding HUD. As you said, there are more panels to remove than the trucks, but it’s one of my favorite mods.

I’d encourage you to consider it again. I think you’d be very pleased with the results.

Much like@pgamboa does for the trucks, I create custom wire harnesses to add options to the K2XX suv platform (tow mirrors, DL3 mirrors, illuminated handles, etc). I’ve taken my dash apart so many times, I could do it in my sleep. I’m happy to offer any help I can.

Agreed.  Ask phil.  I was scared to pull my truck apart the first time. I did it once.  Then i got into adding circuits for dl3 mirrors and other things is super easy now.  I do it for local people with k2 vehicles on the side now. First time is scary but its easy

I would love some help.   I don't have any experience taking apart a dash like this.  Can you tell we where to start?  I have pry tools but don't know where to pry first.  Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you so much.
