Happy with your seatbelt recall fix?

Recommended Posts

Do you guys know if they are cutting for access to work or because they need that part out of the way once it is fixed?

Seems as though they could fold the rubber back and not cut it.

My FIL needs this done and I asked him to hold off for now.

I had this done along with a new exhaust because of the "whistle" from V4 to V8. Scared to go look at the truck now... I go the truck back this morning and noticed hand prints all over the headliner full of grease,

going to report back on the belt though!

Update... :shakehead:

Second update

Thank to this topic, i went back to the dealership after work and spoke with the overall manager of the chain of dealerships. He is having the entire side of the seat and rubber part replaced as well as a full detail.

Might be worth your time checking back with them...?

If you don't have the caddie trim upgrade, its a good time LOL, since I have the caddie's already they would be buying me new panels as its all 1 piece.

I don't speak for all techs, but as a former MB tech I would be ashamed to work along side these hacks, and from my own personal experience at my local GM dealers even my new dealer there are hacks everywhere I have chewed their a$$, even made them pay me to take my truck and leave.

Can someone send me the recall I am curious if they are cutting b/c the techs don't want to R&R the panel. Its a little bit of work to R&R the seat trim but no means is it hard..... and you wonder why good techs don't work at dealers anymore I wanted to quit for years, but management sometimes forces techs do things, I was always caught crap b/c I would say NO! do it right or I am not putting my name on that repair (a client can sue the hell out of a tech and dealership), same with insurance claims wanted to pay warranty rate and use used parts I always told them to go F themselves every time (and if don't listen you will be back paying me again for diag...), you pay me to do the job correctly or I won't do it at all. Most techs need the money b/c most are hurting for money b/c they blow it. So glad I am not a tech anymore now I can afford a new Sierra Denali, before no chance in hell esp... not getting a GM employee discount as a MB tech.

Glad to hear it, I am in conversations with GM Managers now and will probably have to wait. Had to deal with some inept GM 'ambassadors' who would not even believe me there is 2 fixes. I had to go pull up the Recall Bulletin from April from NHSTA.

If anyone is curious tell them to look up 15822 in their system and read it. I am pushing for the unsold fix but would accept this as a solution too.

It is part of the recall to cut the rubber. I'm not sure why as it does not get in the way of the bracket. It's not just techs not wanting to take the trim off. But some of the cuts I've seen are really bad.

Have you noticed better shifting since your exhaust was replaced?

Update 2: have to wait til Monday to hear back from regional manager as per unsold solution.

I have also filed complaints with NHTSA and Transport Canada with whom they are required to file and are the governing bodies for recalls. I have alerted them both to the amount of people that are opting out of this due to GMs shoddy solution which they asked me to do when we spoke on the phone.

Yep, I'm not taking mine in until GM comes up with a better solution.

This. Went to have my oil changed and they told me the recall needed to be done. Told them not to touch it. They said they make clean cuts and I told them they ain't cutting a damn thing on my truck.

Shame on GM for not producing a new matching trim part to be used.

Everyone should file a complaint if they are unhappy or not bringing their vehicle in because of the shoddy fix.

Checked my truck after seeing this post and it appears that my truck came with this already installed. No ridiculous cuts. The large round black piece sits just inside the factory cut black rubber nice and neat.14 AT 2 1/2 years old. Anyone else? bought mine new from a dealership.
