Happy with your seatbelt recall fix?

Recommended Posts

Had my recall done today for the seat belt after seeing on here that GM had resigned the part where the belt goes into and also allowing the whole part to be replaced instead of the free hand cutting which is what I think started this whole thread. I'm glad I waited because the replacement part with the precut section looks hundreds of times better than what was being done by the techs. Here's a pic

Two weeks ago I went in for an oil change, and told them not to do the recall. Signed the paper that authorized only the oil change. They came to the waiting room to tell me they were almost done with the recall and I'd be out of there shortly. I told them no, I didn't authorize that, and explicitly said not to do it. I explained I wasn't happy with the cut out, and thus didn't want it done. Since they had already done most of the work, we reached an agreeable settlement; they left the push bracket on, used my old cover, they got paid for the recall, and I got it done without the cut out. :)

I have read that some dealerships were willing to do the recall without the cutting of the flaps. I personally can't see how that rubber will do any damage down the road but I am glad you were able to find one of those "good" dealers.

when i had mine done i confirmed three times with the guy that the flaps would NOT get cut

i got my truck back and it was cut. he immediately acknowledged that the tech screwed up and we booked a time for my truck to go back in to get the new 'pre-cut' piece put in

i was still choked i ended up with the pre-cut piece, but it's waaaaaay cleaner than the box cutter hack job they had done.

At the present rate my 2015 pickup sees the dealership, I probably will not have to worry about discussing the recall with them till about 2020.

So you don't need your oil changed? Tire rotations?

Oh wait, you must be one who does not drive your truck and leaves it parked in the garage, LOL.

Sorry, I just had to poke a bit of fun at you... Not too many people who can see the future.

Yeah, I don't rack up as many miles as some. I do oil changes and tire rotations and balancing and some other maintenance that I will sometimes use a shop, but I never use the dealer. Never found the need to do so except for a warranty issue if it ever cropped up. Many vehicles I bought over the years never saw a dealership again. My 2015 2500 hasn't been to a dealer since I drove it off the lot over 2 yrs ago. Yet it has gotten several oil changes, trans fluid / transfer fluid / diff lube changes, tire rotations and even different tires.

Mine was cut by the dealer a long time ago. I looked at it when it was first done, but haven't looked at it again. It's not something that catches the eye. The chips on my front end bother me more.
