if i have the recall done i'll take the cover off before i take truck in so they can't cut then put it back on after i get truck back

If you figure out how to remove the cover let us all know.

I checked mine and they did it correct. No hack and slash like how some people posted.

When you say they did it correct, do you mean they didn't cut it or they cut it neatly?

You could go to :

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2fNl0wAVq1PWDllOWRUT2t2WFU/view

and print pages 5 and 8 and take them to the dealer. Page 8 shows what the cut should look like and page 5 (bottom picture) shows a real life fix and how neat it is.

Ask the dealer if this how yours will look when finished, as this pictures are from the recall instruction repair document. If yours has already been butchered, take the official GM pictures and tell the dealer yours was not done per the instruction and you want it fixed.

i've had mine off a coupe of times , it's alot easier to take the seat but you can take it off without removing the seat

rdnckhntr94, if you think a cut like mine (as shown above) is acceptable, just copy the picture and ask the tech to do it like shown in the pic. Or if you hope for a better fix, go for it!

When the asst service manager calls me today I'll ask for his email and send him your pic. My regular service writer knows how picky I am but he's not handling my truck this time (truck was at body shop and they couldn't figure stuff out so they dropped it off at the dealer and asked them to inform the dealer to do my seat belt recall at the same time)

Why the correct fix is how Zachs above his post is done and how mine was done. Just like Zach i told the service writer no cutting and they did just that. Looks the same as when i brought it in to them, that is how this fix should be done. If something falls out of bobs pockets guess where it might end up, yes right into that opening he now has.

Mine was pretty jacked up. I may just get my dremel out and touch it up. I was a little suspicious when the hitch and seatbelt recall was done in under 30 minutes.

Wonder if a good, sharp box cutter would clean it up or is it at the part where the rubber and plastic form together?
