bc-chris
ha... yea.. my 'little scanner' is still there - i love that thing... and it works great! ok - i'll start with where i got my power for the lights. watch this video and at a little after 5 minutes the guy shows where you can get power.... for a ground, just find a bolt that goes to metal (i hooked on to one by the gas/brake pedals) i removed the two side panels from the center console - they come off really easy i ran the wire from the power source, over the the gas/brake pedals and then to the front of the center console where i used a quick spice connector from oznium.com... https://www.oznium.com/quick-wire-splice-connector to send power to all the lights. if you look at the pic below, the side panel has been removed and you can see the lovely mess of wires at the bottom front of the center console. the yellow/black wires were for the lighting i added. the white wire was for a dimmer switch so i could turn down the brightness of the LEDs. the red and black wires are the scanner install for the lights inside the cubby, i used these... https://www.oznium.com/led-ribbon if you notice on the pics from oznium the lights come with pre-attached power wires, so you can plug/unplug them. i attached my wires to the one end of the provided plugs and fed it under center console and then pulled it out from under the console. you can see the black end sticking out just below where one of the bottom clips go into the bottom of the center console in the above pic (lower right hand part of the pic). i used the 3m tape that was on the back of the LED strip to attach them to the inside of the side panel (that is removed in the above pic). i didn't want to stick the LED strip on the bottom of the console (facing up) as i figured it could be really annoying and bright at night and it could get damaged when i put stuff in the cubby. on the inside of the part that is removed (same part i stuck the LED strip to) at the bottom there is a kind of a honeycomb pattern. i used a utility knife to cut a bit of it away so my connecting wire wouldn't get bent/damaged when reinstalling the panel. i just taped the wire in place once i was happy with how it was sitting. get the panel close for reinstalling, plug the power supply into the LED strip and then reattach the side panel. if any wires sneak out from under the center console just push them back under i hope this all makes sense. if it doesn't i can take some pics tomorrow morning for you

Jmiller11331
got my glowing cup holder assembled this afternoon too.... it is two pieces of black plastic cut to fit inside of the base of the cup holder. the bottom piece is the same size as the base of the cup holder. the top piece is 2mm smaller all around so the glow tubing has a 'lip' to sit on. first thing was to drill my holes thru the base of the cup holder and feed thru the glow tubing then i epoxied the 2 pieces of black plastic together. once they were set i used a bead of clear silicone on the lip and put the glow tubing in place and held it there with tape until the silicone had set up it looks much better now that the wiring comes up thru the bottom of the cup holder. hopefully everything goes well with the install tomorrow What glow tubing is that I would love to do this mod so badly Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
bc-chris
hey Jmiller i posted this in the 'switch' thread... yea - i did that myself... only problem with my build thread is that photobucket now wants some ridiculous $$ so the pics show up on forums, so pretty much all the photos are gone. i did ask a few times on fsc (thru the mods) if there was a way to go back and edit old posts (so i could add pics back into the posts) but never heard back i'll likely just start a new build thread when i have some time 11 hours ago, Jmiller11331 said: What glow tubing is that I would love to do this mod so badly Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk i believe it was this stuff here... http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1-5M-Flash-Flexible-Neon-LED-Light-Glow-EL-Strip-Tube-Wire-Rope-Car-Party-LigBE/122436633451?var=422901943456&hash=item1c81cac36b:g:lMUAAOSw-K9ZL82t i think i got 2 of them, in case i screwed the first one up i used 2 layers of plastic. the bottom layer fit perfectly inside the bottom of the cup holder, the top layer was 2mm smaller all around. epoxied the 2 layers together then siliconed the glow strip to the 'lip' (becuz the top piece is a little smaller). all the wiring stuff is located underneath the cupholder
Fix29
I was reading your write up on the bluing of all your interior lights. Great info but I am interested in this and was wondering if you have the pictures to go with the write up still. Thanks!
bc-chris
hey Fix29 yea - i still have all the pics - they just don't show up becuz photobucket wants a crap load of $ to allow pics to show up on forums. i did inquire a while ago about being able to go and edit my old posts to add in the pics but never heard back from anyone from the forum (i'll likely just end up creating a new build thread when i have time) are there any pics in particular you are looking for?? if you want, fire me a pm with links to the posts you are interested in that are missing pics and i'll see what i can do. chris

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk hey Phil which "blue" of mine are you referring too?? control buttons? overhead lights? footwell lights? here's a better image of the hvac/radio controls (bahahahaha... let me rephrase that ... better if the original pics in photobucket showed up) the blue gel i used is a little darker than the stock chevy blue, but honestly, it doesn't bother me at all. i lightened this pic a bit to bring up the contrast between the stock and added blue let me know if you want more/specific pics and i'll get them this evening once the sun goes down
