bc-chris
had some time over the last few evenings to throw some vinyl over the silver trim pieces in the truck i still have to do the steering wheel (uugghhh.... those two pieces are such a pain to get off!) but that's it. i think the vinyl ties in really nice with the dash gauges and the interior lights! oh - if anyone is considering doing this, an absolute MUST is rapid tac - it works sooooo well allowing you to move the vinyl around: rapid tac
Red Rally 2
I did vinyl inserts in my H3 back in the day. Really jumped out at you and got a lot of looks everywhere I went. I had custom two tone leather seats as well. I loved it. I added a two tone wheel wrap as well. Smiling, just remember it was the 2006 time frame, so not so sure it is in style today.. I really like what you did with the lighting in general. Very cool modifications on your part.

Ive done it numerous times already. The hardest part it getting the air bag out. Luckilyyou dont have to pull the steering wheel

Luckilyyou dont have to pull the steering wheel i know!! i've taken the accent pieces off before. getting them off isn't too bad, but putting them back on - wow - what a pain!!!! i'm actually considering taking all the vinyl off, doing something like 6 layers of plastidip and then spraying a blue similar to the vinyl colour over the dip and then clearing it. at least i'll be able to get it off later if i want to go back to stock?? So what's been your experience with the Plasti Dip on the front tie? Does it clean off ok, or have nicks/cuts in it from road debris that will require a re-apply? Same question for the side trim, although I bet that lasts a lot better, due to it's location.........

I finally got to working on my emblems and didn't add anything as a final coat. Now it seems like if I rub the wrong cloth over them, they might get fuzz stuck in the dip, but they're still just a few days old, so maybe they'll continue to harden? LED1, 2, 3 & 7. LED7 is orange and the indicator that your cargo lamp is on - i left it orange http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/xx274/bc-chris/2014%20silverado/how%20to/entertainment-hvac/IMG_1871_zps4bzjwwug.jpg pop the module back together now for the 'fun' stuff... the first thing i did was pop out the hvac controls. a small flat screw driver between the module and the housing and it pops out http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/xx274/bc-chris/2014%20silverado/how%20to/entertainment-hvac/IMG_1872_zps9lwhy3ql.jpg i left the hvac stuff for later then i removed the screws from the back plate that secures the touch screen and the entertainment controls (i think there were 13 screws). there is a circuit board on top that has 2 ribbons attached to it. you need to be able to move the board, so carefully disconnect the ribbons http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/xx274/bc-chris/2014%20silverado/how%20to/entertainment-hvac/IMG_1873_zpsdfgfn4fo.jpg once the ribbons are disconnected you can remove the entertainment controls the entertainment module is pretty much held together by the knobs and they were a pain to get out. there is the part at the base of the knob that glows (it's a fairly clear plastic 'ring'). i pried it up and then rotated it a bit so i could see the tabs inside the knobs that were keeping everything in place. i very carefully started prying them up (you can feel the knob start to lift). i worked my way around the knob a couple of times and eventually the knob popped out. once the knob was out i popped out the center cap of the knob (the part with the power/menu text on it) there are lots of LEDs to blue out... http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/xx274/bc-chris/2014%20silverado/how%20to/entertainment-hvac/IMG_1874_zpsor4zbmhc.jpg http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/xx274/bc-chris/2014%20silverado/how%20to/entertainment-hvac/IMG_1875_zps2trolyej.jpg http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/xx274/bc-chris/2014%20silverado/how%20to/entertainment-hvac/IMG_1877_zpspvkkdmqt.jpg the only LEDs i didn't cover were the ones that illuminate the power/menu caps. for that it was a lot easier to pop the cap open and use double sided clear tape and a piece of gel and put it inside the cap http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/xx274/bc-chris/2014%20silverado/how%20to/entertainment-hvac/IMG_1878_zpsvszdlkyu.jpg then just put everything back together then the hvac controls. this thing gave me a headache! the biggest thing is TAKE YOUR TIME!!! so this is what you start with.... http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/xx274/bc-chris/2014%20silverado/how%20to/entertainment-hvac/IMG_1872_zps9lwhy3ql.jpg the first thing i did was remove the 'chrome' rings from around the auto/sync knobs. they pry up and do slide over the knobs. it's an extremely tight fit. these rings are just chrome covered plastic so be careful. i'm sure they'd break easy (i got mine out ok, but they didn't feel overly strong). the next thing i did was slide a flat screw driver down the sides to pop the module out of the housing. this is the point where i got stuck for quite a while. if you push on the auto/sync knobs you and feel that they want push thru, but the circuit board is stuck. at first i thought it was the trim around the a/c, cabin air, air flow buttons that was holding things up, but it's not. it's the center fan power button. with a small thin flat screw driver very carefully start prying around the black rubbery base of the knob. eventually it will pop up. once the rubbery part comes off, you can remove the face plate to reveal this... http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/xx274/bc-chris/2014%20silverado/how%20to/entertainment-hvac/IMG_1883_zpszy7wr1la.jpg using the same small flat screw driver carefully pop out the auto and sync buttons. i also popped out the 'smoked' screens that are above the auto/sync buttons, but i don't think you need to do that. then start covering up the LEDs. like with the other knobs, it was a lot easier to put a blue gel in the cap of the 'fan power' button. it was also a lot easier to put a blue gel on the inside of the auto/sync button rather than try and cover the LEDs http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/xx274/bc-chris/2014%20silverado/how%20to/entertainment-hvac/IMG_1886_zpsbffjkn2l.jpg once everything is blued out put it back together. i did find it was better to install the 'chrome' rings back into the faceplate before putting the faceplate over the auto/sync knobs. then put the entire center console back together and reinstall it into the truck. so i went from this.... http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/xx274/bc-chris/2014%20silverado/IMG_1363_zpseos9faum.jpg to this.... http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/xx274/bc-chris/2014%20silverado/IMG_1928_zps4b9k08dc.jpg http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/xx274/bc-chris/2014%20silverado/IMG_1897_zpslhfrxqj0.jpg http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/xx274/bc-chris/2014%20silverado/IMG_1898_zpsw6gda78m.jpg http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/xx274/bc-chris/2014%20silverado/IMG_1899_zps6ap7s6du.jpg http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/xx274/bc-chris/2014%20silverado/IMG_1900_zps9azno1z0.jpg http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/xx274/bc-chris/2014%20silverado/IMG_1889_zpscu1uopws.jpg Dude, legendary!
