Last Opinions...3" Body Lift and 315's...

Recommended Posts

I've been changing my mind a thousand times, but I think I've finally found what I'm looking for...

I'm looking to have this look...

hmm.jpg

With the tires sticking out as much as his are...

I want to go with 16x8 rims and the 315x12.5 ProComp tires as that guy has...

The only thing is...he has a 7" fabtech lift I believe...and I only want to go with a 3" body lift...will I still be able to acheive this look? Or will I have rubbing?

Thanks again,

Charlie

btw I have a 2001 black silverado reg. cab z71

Obviously, you can't make a 3" lift look like a 7" I think the 315's would rub. You might think about 305's, they are pretty wide (same size as a 33x12.50) and they will clear with the 3" body lift, without making the wheel wells look too stuffed.

Thats one look I don't like, tires that are too big for the amount of lift that the truck has, you need to have some room in the fenderwells for articulation etc.

Actually the truck you have pictured there only has a 3" body lift. And those are 35's on 17" wheels. This is a caption from one of his pictures:

2003 Silverado LT Z71 - 3in. body lift, 35in. tires and 17in American Racing Python rims. Westin grille guard and nerf bars. Let me know what you guys think

This is his whole gallery

No, I don't think it would. However, its not my truck. This truck is your project, and you should do with it what you like. If you think it would look better lifted, then by all means lift the piss out of it. I think that it is more important that you like how it looks, more than other people. it your truck, you have to drive it, might as well be how you like it. :D

I think the 315s would be pushin it w/ just a 3in body lift!! I think theyd fit, but youll definitely have some rubbing!! There is a truck just like yours here in town, and its got 315s, 3in body lift, and factory wheels!! To me, it looks like it would tip over on a curve! If your gonna go w/ the 3in BL and 315s, I would suggest some 16x8s w/ 4.5" backspacing to at least stick the wheels and tires out a little, to make it look more stable!! BUT, you will have rubbing!!!

Check this out This truck has 35's on just a 3" BL. He is running stock rims, that is the key, you need a rim with like 4.5" of backspacing, as Z&! mentioned. However, this limits you in the future, if you want th get a susp lift, many require less backspacing. And, if you get a stock like rim, then it won't stick out of the wheel well, like you wanted. 305's might be a better choice, you will be able to run a wider rim with less backspacing, and acheive that wide look that you like.

The factory rims will limit your future like said above. On my Rancho, you could have no more than 4.5in backspacing, and some other lift kits are the same way, which make the factory 5in backspacing a no go!!

I agree. 315s w/ a 3" body lift is really pushing it. If you crank like there's no tomorrow, you MIGHT be able to get away w/ it on the pavement, but if you offroad, you're screwed. I've got 9" of lift, some crank, and 36x14.50s and I rub when i'm really gettin' it offroad.

305's will do with a BL. I have a 6" Superlift and had to do some trimming for when I make hard turns off roading. I have 315's w/16x10 welds on 4-5/8 backspacing.I wanted the wider rim for looks. Most lifts only recommend 16x8.
