Performance upgrades?

Recommended Posts

I've got a 2011 Silverado that I've done some upgrades to, but I'm looking to do some more. I've put a cold air intake on, a mass air flow sensor upgrade, throttle body spacer, programmer, and cat back exhaust. Any thing else I can do that's fairly cheap and I can do myself?

Get rid of the throttle body spacer, return the MAF to OEM. Put that $$$ towards headers or a cam.

Recently bought a 2012 Surburban 2500 with the 6.0L and 3.73 gears. Bought up from a Tahoe due to 3 kids and toys to haul(boat, snowmobiles & travel trailer). Without all the details as to "why the 2500?" we felt we needed it and found one with <30k. Love the truck and it LOVES gas! While I expected to spend more on gas & maintenance I'd like to get more than 14.2mpg highway. Drove it home 15 hrs and that was the best I could get going 71-2mph. Unloaded. Around town it's 13-13.8.

Help?

I've seen various opinions/comments of CAI/exhaust/programmers and even some people claiming to get 16-18mpg with this type truck/engine. Some claim that each help. Friends & family(mechanics) are mixed saying a programmer might help to "that's the best I'll get".

What's your thoughts? Are any of these worth it? We need to use the truck around town so there's no "don't drive" or "stay off the gas". We aren't looking to race anyone and don't want it be extraordinarily loud. Just want to try to get a little better gas mileage out of it..

Possible? If so, what brands of products?
