hp and tq from magazines

Recommended Posts

Magazines do tech articles that post hp and tq increases for certain mods. I'd think you could trust these numbers more than what the manufacturer claims. I'm interested in mod's for the 5.3L (anything intake, exhaust, headers, mas, chips, programmers, pully's, thermostat) MPG changes would be good too.

My addition is Sport Truck magazine tested a magnaflow catback single 3 inch on an 03 silverado 5.3L. Posted hp was 11 and tq was 9 with averages between 3700rpm and 5600rpm to be 9 and 9 over stock.

The current issue of Truckin' reported a gain of 13HP and 7lb/ft with a Brute Force air intake. The article showed before and after dyno results with just this mod. I think BF is made by AES or something like that.

Good luck!

That's funny with the truckin magazine. According the bruteforce's webpage, they posted hp and tq for that engine and claimed 16hp and 18 tq. I tried to bring up the webpage again, but it's down. They must have canned it since Truckin came out. That's why I posted this topic in the first place, to get real numbers and not exagerated ones from the manufacturer. I wish there was a magazine out there that dynoed every product for most trucks and posted real numbers.

I would be more inclined to believe the #'s posted in mags vs. #'s posted in manuf. ads. Some of the #'s in the mags are still hard to swallow but prob. closer as they are tested in real world situations.

Yea, I read the mags too!
