Answered my own question with a Google search. There is indeed a PIT5501F. Can someone going to the dealer for this please ask them for a copy them upload it here like I did with 5501E?

So I'm just going to start with,

we all seem to be having the same issue but nothing seems to fix it.

Let me give you a little back ground.

I have a 2016 2500HD Denali that I purchased new with 12 miles on it. I'm not a fan of the rake in the rear so I wanted to get it leveled. That said I had the dealer write up tires and leveling kit in the deal. They said it would take about a week to get the tires and leveling kit. I was fine with that so I took the truck and waited for the call. During the first 2 days, I had it back to the dealership twice for alignment and wheel balance. Not knowing that the shakes have been a problem in the past, and this is my first GM truck. About 11 days went by and I got a call to bring it in for the install. Install was done, everything looked great but from that point forward I noticed that my steering would get extremely loose feeling between the speeds of +45 to 75 Mph. If I go below 45 Mph the steering gets tight and if I go above 75 Mph the steering is tight. I brought it back to the dealer and they said everything was in spec and it seems normal. So I left and noticed it was still doing it. Took it back to the dealer the next day. I was a little upset about it and told them I need it fixed and to talk to a manager. The manager came out and said " I have spoken to the owner and we have decided that we don't want your business and will not work on you truck". My level of pissed went up a few notches. I called GM Corp and explained that I have an issue and the dealer refused to help. I never received a call back from them after they said we will speak to the dealer.

I was able to find a dealer that was 2 minutes from work. So I told them of the issue and they said no problem we will fit it. Great no problem I thought, well I was wrong. I have had the truck in 7 times for this steering issue and when I get it back they say its fixed every time. So this last time I saw that GM had a TSB out on the steering box. I printed it out and gave them the TSB, since somehow they had no idea that the TSB even existed. I Got a call to pick up the truck 2 days later saying it was fixed and they followed the TSB. Great so its DONE again. Well I drive about a mile down the road and its still doing it. At this point I was so pissed off that I called GM Corp. and said this is unacceptable I want this fixed NOW. So GM called the dealer and asked what was going on, and to my surprise the GM Rep called the dealer that sold me the truck and installed the leveling kit and tires. So to surprise me again the dealer and GM said its not a warranty issue since I voided my warranty when I had the leveling kit and tires installed. No one at the dealer said the warranty would be voided it I had the leveling kit installed. I mean come on, why would I have it written up in my contract for these parts and install on a 60K+ truck if I knew I was trashing my warranty.

So I have no idea what I'm going to do at this point.

We just bought a 2016 used from a dealer who also put a leveling kit, wheels and tires on. Drove it around there but never at high speed so didn't notice the slack. Started to drive it home (7 hours away) and noticed the slack. Waited till we got back home and contacted dealership in our town, they got it in and repaired it per the TSB and under warranty. Have only had it back 1 day now and so far so good but no issues with it having a leveling kit and the wheels and tires. There is no reason that should void your warranty! Hope you were able to get something figured out. Hopefully this "fix" will work for us, if not, we will be taking it back in to be replaced instead of repaired.

I am beginning the think leveling kits or any change from the OEM front suspension is suspect for steering issues. My GMC had small slack after the leveling kit went in. On the Silverado I won't be modifying the suspension and it is better than the trucks I used to own.

My truck is completely stock. At about 9k I noticed the steering loosening. At about 11k I could turn the wheel between 11 and 1 and the front wheels didn't move. Went to the dealer with PIT5501D in hand. They said it had been superceded by 5501E. They did the locktite fix (5501E). It's been a couple thousand miles and so far so good. The existence of 5501F has dashed my hopes that the problem is permanently fixed. Now I'm back to waiting for it to loosen up again so I can take it back for whatever the most current PIT5501 happens to be. If someone could get their hands on 5501F that would be very helpful.

Update...I just picked up my truck. Seems fine for now. Feels tight again with no wandering at 70mph. They wrote on the repair invoice "Steering box leaking fluid. Replaced steering box with new one. Replaced pitman arm. Tested, all ok now" I noticed that there is still fluid under the truck on the sway bars and plastic guard. Hopefully that's residual fluid from the last leak. If this doesn't work I'm getting out while I can. I hate to eat a few bucks but it is what it is. I hope it doesn't get to that because I really like the truck. Any reports of the 17 1500's having this issue? Or do they just shake lol? Thanks

AFAIK, the 1500s use a rack & pinion setup, completely different animal than the HDs.

Lots of the trucks in this thread are gas.

Anyone having steering problems with a 6.0 gasser that does not have the digital steering option?

To the ones that have problems are they a certain build date or where they built have anything to do with it?. Just wondering...

FYI none to report yet on my 15 HD with 19,000 on it. Mine is a late build 15 built at theFt. Wayne Indiana plant. Just don't want it going out pulling a 33' TT.

Thanks in advance.

I had a 2016 All Terrain Duramax. Beautiful truck. The loose steering and wandering was not only a pain in the butt but was safety concern for me. After 1/2 dozen trips to the dealer and GM's lack of support, I decided to get rid of it while I could. I went back to a 1500 and am not looking back. It really leaves a sickening feeling in the stomach to have to do that but I just couldn't trust the truck or GM. The 1500 is solid, easy drive and yes I do miss the 3/4 ton and the Duramax. I do however like the auto trans mode for winter driving.. when needed. The steering on the 1500 is great.

I posted a few comment about the 3/4 ton on this site. It is a shame that folks have to go through such problems and GM is putting out a litany of patches for 'new' trucks. Wish you all the best of luck with your vehicles and perhaps if GM reads this, they should come clean and offer compensation to the owners of these trucks.

People have posted where their trucks were built, but not much feedback on the build dates.

I really don't want to give up my 3/4 ton.. The crew cab and long bed are a must for me. They replaced my entire steering box and pitman arm...All is good for now. Did they do that for you? I do however think it's pretty pathetic that thy had this issue on a heavy duty truck. I feel as if I'm just waiting to see what goes wrong next. This is supposed to be the strong big dog vehicle. I feel like it's a fragile flower.
