My service manager and service tech acknowledged the tick finally! They tried new fuel line and new style exhaust clamp, but still ticks. He said to bring it back until it's fixed, so that's good news. They're really trying.

what did you say/show them? because I've replicated it without any concern from the tech

Ask them to check anything to do with the electric power steering...the noise goes away when you turn the wheel (see my post yesterday). As 2016LTCC mentioned, it's probably putting pressure on wherever the metallic rattling noise is coming from.

Steering:

-ties rods/"rack & pinion" pack/steering mounts/bolts/steering shaft/steering shaft boot (which is snug against the break master cylinder - could be making noise)/front suspension & breaks/or anything the steering assembly is touching directly.

I wrote a long survey to the last maintenace and gave 0 stars. It was very polite and manager immediately called me next day. He rode in truck with me for 1 hour. He could easily replicate it by letting off gas and barely pushing pedal. Tick tick tick. He said he will work it until fixed. I'm gonna try the procedure you guys did before I bring it in next week.l and then show him if it works on mine.

Yep, let me see if I can replicate first.

So dropped off the truck this morning. Mentioned the noise and explained that there was some play in the water pump pulley.

Just got a call that the play is normal. No sound detected on a test drive.

And on the drive home it ticked like a muther under load. Disappeared after I turned a corner though. Both right and left turns. Came back in between the turns though.

Was it a hard job?

Jobs not hard but then again I’ve been doing this work for many years. 150 dollar gamble on the ticking noise and the house won again. I just read a review on the 2019 Silverado and apparently the ride and interior haven’t improved so it’s safe to assume other issues may follow. I understand the grass may not be greener on the other side but when I start to compare gm to ford or ram it’s like nothing about my truck is a winner other than the looks. I think Chevy went backwards with the new model making it look and ride like a 2014 tundra.

Fellas I’m done ranting about these pos gm trucks. If I wasn’t in the middle of a move and new home purchase I’d be rid of this truck. I’d like to find a fix to this ticking noise and share with all of you but at this point on top of the ride, interior, axles, and leaf springs... sorry I mean the whole truck Ill be trading for the first good ford or ram deal I find. Cheers
