Dealer replaced the fuel feed tube and........no difference whatsoever.  Guess I will go test drive some Fords or Rams.  Can't deal with that sounds for the next 4-5 years I planned to own this truck.

this sucks. I don't want to get rid of the truck but I will lose my sanity listening to this for the next 5+ years

Same here.  My wife thinks I'm crazy, but she doesn't drive it.  I feel like I need to trade it in/sell it while it's still high value.  Dealer trade KBB is only $4k less than I paid.  Seems worth it for a year old truck.

My father has a new 5.7 ram and i like it but not more than my truck.. and I don't like the new fords at all. I can't imagine being happy with those because I like this truck a lot other than the sound. I want to somehow make a big enough stink that GM gets involved and figures it out

While I understand and agree that it’s annoying, we all can agree it’s most likely harmless. I think it’s a little excessive to trade it in over the noise, but it’s your truck and money. I’m gonna drive it till something expensive breaks after warranty and trade it in. Mine is paid off in a couple years so seems more worth to wait till I own it and don’t have to pay back the loan when I go for the next truck.

I like the Rams a lot.  Ford's for some reason is way expensive with a lot less features.  Quality is no better.  I don't think GM cares or knows how to fix it.  I've seen on Camaro and Corvette forums of people complaining of similar issues.  I suspect it's some by-product of the direct injection, variable displacement engines.  95% of people don't notice stuff like this, so they won't fix it as long as the trucks keep selling.

I just went and test drove a 2018 Ram 1500 Midnight Edition, and was not impressed at all.  The interior fit and finish was terrible.  Lacked a couple of features that I enjoy about my GMC.  That truck had a sticker of $55k, with $11k in rebates.  About the same as what my GMC was last year.  They didn't low ball me on the trade offer, but I don't think it's worth taking a $7k hit to buy a newer truck that isn't nicer (but will at least not make that noise).  Might be time to bolt on a cat back exhaust and mask some of the ticking, and have my wife buy something bigger than an IS250 to take the family on road trips (cant crank up the stereo when the kids are asleep in the back).

yep been thinking about cat backs recently to help cover up some of it hopefully. i drove my fathers ram about 1000 miles towing this winter when we didn’t take my truck snowmobiling and like i said i like it but i couldn’t imagine having that every day instead of the gm.

They won't.  You are nothing to them.  They don't care if you go to another brand.

Went to the dealership, they told me the "Tech confirmed this characteristic is normal" when I spoke to the adviser on the phone. I gave him the TSB # again and said it's not acceptable and it is clearly not normal if there is a TSB to address the issue. I insisted it be driven a little more, and a little harder, with the foreman. Adviser called me back and said "We cant duplicate it but we will perform the TSB anyways".

When I get to the dealer the paperwork doesn't mention anything about parts being replaced or anything about the TSB. All it says is "Tech confirmed the noise is normal characteristic". I asked the service advisor that if they performed the TSB then why is it not documented? He said "If we documented it then GM would have to pay us on the service and this is not something we are allowed to get paid on".

I feel like they didn't do anything to the truck.

Dropped it off 8am this morning at another dealer. 4:30pm and they said they don't know what it is and haven't tried replacing anything. No matter how many times I tried to give them the TSB# they refused to take it down.

Picked up loander at 6pm. Adviser said they will call GM in the morning.

5pm Friday update. All techs left, didn't try changing any parts, they "have no clue" according to the advisor. I asked if they called GM and the adviser couldn't give me an answer. He said they saw the TSB I kept talking about but said it's not related. I beg to differ, it sounds exactly the same. They said keep the loaner through the weekend and they'll have an update on Tuesday. That means by EOD Tuesday it'll be in the shop for 6 full days.

Dealer called me today, said to come pick up my truck. After 6 full days, they have no answer and say nothing is wrong. They only started it 3 times in the 6 days for under 1 minute (probably just moving it around on their lot) and didn't even put 1 mile on the odometer.

Wow, same issues with 2017 suburban. Two of my neighbors bought the same truck and no tick. Mine has it. Random, hear it on drivers side, heard in drive throughs at times, cruising on highway or driving slow around 1500 to 2k rpms. Brought it in 3 separate times. They finally said they're performing the below. We'll see how it goes, but I'm not optismistic.
