Yeah that definitely is not the case with my truck or anyone else’s with this problem that I’ve heard yet. Sorry to hear man, that is crazy. My truck is at 23k now and the motor doesn’t consume or show over filled a drop of oil, great gas mileage too. How was your gas mileage?

Well. I got my exhaust on today. I can definitely say it’s not the flapper valve or the stock cats. As stated above, my oil is a little over full. I may send it for analysis and see what happens.

Also look at your oil cap and see if it has any condensation and if it smells like gas.

I’ve never had a vehicle that the oil cap didn’t have a SLIGHT gas smell. That’s normal at least I thought it was. I checked mine and it has no condensation at all but that very slight gas smell

Yes slight is normal, mine smelt like you were standing over an open gas can and I have a feeling the condensation was gas that was splashing on the back of the cap. The tech smelt the gas as soon as he pulled my dip stick didn't even have to put it by his nose it was that strong.

Gotcha. Yeah I do remember on my 06 Silverado before I traded it in I had two burnt cylinders that lost some compression and the oil cap definitely had gas in it, you could see that condensation and the smell was there. When I just checked my 16 Sierra there was a gas like smell for sure on the cap but the only thing I could see on that cap was just oil. Oil level was normal as well. I wonder if this is the problem that a lot of people have with these half ton GM trucks and it’s a time bomb. Yours happened with super low miles though and on the trucks I’ve heard people complaining about mine included there are no issues at all. Did your truck throw any codes by any chance?

No codes the only thing is my oil pressure gauge started running 5 lbs lower at operating temp. After driving this loaner they gave me my truck was way down on power.

Was your ticking sound focused only on the driver side footwell or was it across the whole dash?

Eek. Did it go away for months at a time and then every once in a while a bump would trigger the sound and then it would go away?

I only had the truck for 3 months so I can't say, it started at about 6000 miles and at 8200 started getting worse.

Gotcha. Mine definitely has gotten better, more than worse. It’s so weird. What did the dealership do when you brought it there to diagnose this and perform the fix? You brought it due to overfilled oil you said?
