With some help from TxDoc, for the part number, 15744722; Silverado3500, for som installation tips; and GMPartsDirect.com, for the good price and speedy service, I got a 3500 rear clearance light bar put on my truck. Pretty easy install. I modified the back of the lightbar by cutting off the plastic tabs near the middle (that go into some square holes, I think), cutting off the plastic wire guide where the wires go into the back of the housing, cut a groove in the back side for the wires to lay in, filled up the hole and gaps with clear silicone, put some 3M double sided tape down the middle to help hold it down, cut off the plastic connector that the wire went into, then spliced them into the wiring for the license plate lights. Blue wire to the brown license place wire, black wire to the black license plate wire, drilled a couple holes, and secured it with stainless steel screws.

I screwed it on with stainless steel screws and used the double sided tape to secure the middle since I cut the tabs off that would normally go through the holes that are in the bed on the 3500's.

I don't think I'll be getting the roof lights. I like them, but not too sure about them on red. Something about orange on red isn't too apealling to me.

Thanks for the compliments. I always wanted some on my black '91 (like my dad has on his old '86 Dodge), but could never find any small enough that would fit in there and not get crushed by the tailgate when you lower it. I think this light bar wold work on the older body styles because of the bevel on the top of the lens, allowing more room for the bottom lip of the tailgate to pass over it.

Nice job on that Tom. Looks good!

I can see your Suzuki's reflection in the tailgate!

Why do you have that extra 4-pin plug hanging on there? If it's for your trailer's lights you should just use a 7 to 4 pin adaptor in the factory 7 pin plug and not have to have that wiring hanging there.

I have one, but got tired of taking that 7 to 4 plug in and out when not using it and trying to keep up with it. I got a Draw-Tite kit that plugs in-line with the factory wiring for around $11.00. It's always there and I don't have to remove it or try and remember where I put it.

I think I made a post about it when I bought it, telling what the part number was.

How hard is it to splice into the license plate lights? What do I need to do it?

I just used some of those little Scotch-Lock thingys to splice them into the lights, and them wrapped them up read good with electrical tape and put some of that wiring loom over the wires.

Some people don't like using those Scotch-Locks, and there are "better" ways of doing it, but I've been using them for many, many years with no corrosion problems or anything.
