Pickup truck comparison video

As I've said elsewhere, test is pointless. No one will use the truck like that with the bobcats and I'm sure the toolbox thing took a million takes to get it so it slid off just right. GM has already said they plan to switch so this is stupid.

One of my friends hates his 15 the bed sides crack just by driving down a rough Rd (which is damn near all of Michigan) says the dealership gets cracked beds in nonstop. Such a joke.

Where has GM announced the next gen trucks will have a complete aluminum body?

It's pretty much a given. All the trucks need to keep losing weight to help meet the MPG targets. It's sad that the only truck without cylinder deactivation, curb-scraping air dams or aluminum all over is the Tundra. A Japanese company is building the most traditional half ton...

its not about weight.

for decades one could make a half ton a 1 ton or 3/4 ton with a weekend of giggle welding and spring swaps.

it seems this aluminum venture is locking out men and trucks.

By nature aluminum is never found in the sun, or on top of the earth.

it anodizes to electric, it is weak, it is constantly moving heat...

it is ridiculous.

Even the air conditioner needs repairs ten times to 1 compared to everything else.

Aluimnuminum .. english way of saying it.

I don't even want an alloy engine after my subaru go kart projects.

Nothing by GM stating the truck exterior panels will be 100% aluminum panels in lock step with Ford.

My point is that from the most recent of news reports is stating that aluminum will be one of the many or multiple components used to reduce weight.

Same with the Camaro. That was the car they wanted to drop weight on the most for the gen 6 & yet only used aluminum in strategic areas.

I believe the trucks will follow suit in that line of engineering.

No automaker comes out and announces their future plans. Look at what Ford did with "planting" aluminum beds on previous generation trucks at severe-use facilities or putting the EcoBoost in their Baja truck without making a show of it till after so they could gloat once things turned out favorable. Best you can do is read the writing on the wall and come up with the most likely conclusion. GM might not go all aluminum but they may use it extensively in the next truck and since 98% of the people out there are morons who can't be bothered to look at the whole picture even if GM keeps a steel inner bed but goes aluminum for the rest, they're gong to catch a ton of crap for it. And they deserve every bit of it. They've been doing full on moron-level marketing with that former football douche since the introduction of the 900-series trucks.

Well they say replacing some components so I'm guessing they'll keep steel where it counts, at least I hope. You want mpgs get a damn car.
