Nothing hurts them. I've actually spilled battery acid and kerosene on 1 of mine and it washed right off with a pressure washer.

Absolutely. If I remember rightly they're not a rug at all. They're made of some kind of plastic fibers.

I've had mine for 22k miles now and it looks good as new. I've thrown my dirty motorcycle gear back there time and again, brought home firewood, done countless trip to Home Depot, rolled my tools all around in the back, etc.

I occasionally vacuum it with my shop vac and all is well again. I would fully intend to purchase another if I ever trade/sell my truck.

Only downside is that you no longer get the reflection of the bed lights off of the paint so the LED bed lights are not as effective as before I installed the rug.
