snowman44
Just purchased a 2016 midnite edition. I live in the northeast and want to protect the paint from the winters. No swirls no scratches anything right now(knock on wood). Any suggestions to use for wax to protect? I do not need a turtle wax black kit as of right now because it is brand new. Thanks for the help in advance.
chrislcrews
They make a film that is clear and you cannot see that you can have placed and laser cut to fit the front of your truck. A local shop here promotes it and it protects against rocks etc. If you're talking about the whole truck? I mostly use meguiars good class wash and micro fiber rags. Do you have problems with bugs on the front of the truck and getting them off?
thetruck454
I had a product called xpel installed. It's a self healing layer similar to a screen protector on your smart phone. I had from the A pillars forward, rocker panels down the entire truck and rear bumper covered. It's been through one winter and still looks great
tallspawn
PPF is the way to go for rock chips and such just go with one of the good self healing ones like Suntek or Xpel. For wax/polish I'm considering switching to Optimum products next time, currently using Zaino which looks great but isn't handling bird droppings worth a crap. karlmg
Try Pinnacle Synergy. It is a long lasting wax and helps protect the paint from winter and road grime.
wuznme
Wax and long lasting don't go together.... Get a good polish and sealant. FYI....Any of the good clear paint protection products will be high $$$
cev103
I just bought a 2016 Silverado midnight edition last week and when I washed and Clayed it I notice all of the fine swirls and scratches that the dealer installed for me free of charge. I always do a 2 bucket wash and use Adam's products faithfully however this was my first black vehicle and I also live in the Northeast so I wanted to try something with a little more resistance to scratching. I looked into paint coatings and found a local dealer that applies Optimum Gloss Coat. Long story short, I had them do some paint correction and apply Optimum Gloss Coat. The truck looks amazing and water just sheets away better than any wax or paint sealant that I have ever used, supposedly it resists micro marring from washing as well...... Only time will tell on that. Optimum has higher grades of ceramic coatings such as Opti Pro and Opti Pro Plus but those cost way more. I figured I'd try the Gloss Coat for now and in 1.5 - 2 years I'll decide whether to do a reapply of Gloss Coat or try the Pro version. I'm also going to have Llumar PPF installed on the front end, I had this on my last 2 trucks and my wife's Tahoe as well.
cbrsilv15
If you can afford a brand new truck, you can afford some xpel paint protection film. That will give you the most protection. A sealant and wax will only protect it from the elements temporarily. A rock on the highway wont be protected by a paint sealant.
