Hey guys, what's up? Was wondering if anyone here has any experience with 6.5L turbo diesels, i'm looking to buy a used one. A ot of people love'em but alot of people hate them. any tips or things to look out for/listen for when looking at one? Thanx in avance.

They are a pretty good motor IMO. A lot of people don't like them because you can't accelerate like the PSD's and the newer Cummins. But if your use is for pulling then the 6.5 TD will do good for you. But if you want to pull and race at the sametime then go for a DMAX/PSD/Cummins. A 6.5 is a good motor last good if you take care of it. But like with anything else you get lemons with any make so hope this helps. As far as checking the motor check your fluids, miles, glowplugs, compression should be 25:1, depending on year. Ask what the truck was used for before etc.

The 6.5 is a good engine IMO

We had over 300k on a 94 2500 before it was wrecked most of those miles were on the "illegal" fuel .

We had no major problems with the engine just some minor things that would be expected of a truck with that kind of mileage .
