2000(Old style) vs 2003

Recommended Posts

I had a 2000 crew cab with the 5.7 , 3.73 rear-old body style(last year) before the 2001 1/2 came out. It was a great truck but only got 10-11mpg city 13-14 hwy. I'm looking at another crew cab 1500HD with the 6.0 , & 4.10s. The new vortechs are more efficent-so what are you guys REALLY getting with the new vortechs? or will my milage be the same as my old truck?

I'd say the city MPG's are about the same... However the Highway numbers that I get in my truck (6.0L 2500HD crewcab 4x4) are a little higher than you are currently getting. Plus, I have quite a bit more HP!!!

The 6.0L is surprisingly quick for a 6K LB truck...

BTW I have the 4.10's, but I understand the 3.73's in the 1500HD's are getting 16 MPG's highway after breakin.

My truck is seeing extreme duty. It is driven at least 6 days a week and will be 2 years old the end of June... I just turned 10K miles!!! (lots of short trips)

On the avg I see about 11 mpg's... high of 16 mpg's and low of 7 mpg's (the low MPG tank lasted 5 weeks of winter driving).

I get about 8-8.5 MPG's towing my 8K lb + travel trailer...

I have a 2500HD Reg. Cab. 5spd 4x4 w/4.10's and I get about 10-11 in the city and up to 13 on the highway. Note: I have 285's on my truck, ranchand bumpers with don't help nothing plus a constant load of something in the bed. So you might see better results. When I first got my truck and she was stock I was getting 12-13 city and 14-16 on the highway. God bless a 5spd w/overdrive.

I have a '02 2500HD 4x4 Crew Cab with the 6.0L / 4.10 combo. I am running 285 Revos so the spedo is not accurate so I may be getting better mpg than my calculated 12-14 on the highway.

Had a '93 Z71 extended cab 5.7 before and got high of 16mpg hwy. Did not have near the horses as the HD 6.0L. She had 183,000 miles on her when I traded. I currently have 15,000 on the HD. Hoping for the same luck with the HD.

Use Mobil 1 every 3000 miles.
