Looking for advice on how to fix a scratch. In my effort to keep my truck from getting pounded with hail last night I managed to squeeze it in the garage. I literally had the front license plate against the front wall and i had less than 1/2 inch for the garage door to clear the rear bumper. In my effort to get it right up against the wall I neglected to notice that my hood was going to just barely come into contact with a metal wire basket on the front wall I store some car washing supplies in.

I ended up with this scratch. What can be done? I hate having a scratch, especially on a brand new truck.

Can you feel it with your fingernail?

You could try some scratch X on it, probably won't get it all out but it should be able to take anything that isn't a "chip" out.

I have had good luck in the past by using touch up paint to fill the chip and once I have it a slight bit higher than the surrounding paint I'll hit the area with a little compound on a DA polisher, then come back and Polish it all out. Again won't fix it 100% but from 2'away it makes it almost impossible to see it.
