I dont make crap and i am always stressed and in bad health. But I am also a full-time college student along with work

I personally seen what a good diet does for your health, , just a tip. It's hard to change your ways , I know it's been hard for me and my wife. It's definitely a lifestyle change

This is getting worse..

Yesterday I pulled a 14 hour day, got take out on the way home because I hadn't eaten or drank anything since 5am, and then went to bed, because I had to get up at 4am today to drive 65 miles across the city. I was late. 2.5 hours to drive 65 miles.

Client emailed with some issues, I replied with a quick email while dealing with another issue to try to get them help, boss calls me and tells me the email was dismissive.

haven't eaten today. Been away from the house since 6am, not looking good to be home any time soon.

Guy here on the forums is trying to buy some parts from me.. I'm not home enough to even find the parts..

You see what I mean? Is this really worth it??

You gotta take care of you, before you can take care of anything else. A healthy diet will do more for your energy/stress levels than you would ever imagine. Fast food is about as great of an idea as you think.

Again, go talk to a counselor. They will help devise a plan to either make your job work for you, or help you find your new path. You will be amazed.

You sound overbooked, but you also sound very distracted. Your ability to help others consumes your ability to take care of you. Without you, you can't help anyone.

Keep us posted!

I got home at 6:30 after leaving at 4. I got calls on the way home and had to fight management. They wanted me to turn around and go back 45 minutes into my drive.

Mind you I was SICK from not eating all day and had a LONG ride home. (140 miles and 5:15 of driving today, plus 6 hours of work)

I have to do it again tomorrow. 3 stops, this one will be about 200 miles of driving.

It's not that I live far away either.. they send me to clients.. some of them are 10 miles away, others are 70.

I can't help but feel they're being unreasonable.

Grass isn't always greener, you could leave this job and get another job that could be just as stressful with less pay, the IT field is a stressful job especially when SHTF. If you're are understaffed talk to your boss let him know the workload is too much, if he and the company value you they will correct it.

My thoughts on this type of work; if ain't broke it can wait until tomorrow, I have told all of my bosses over the years this statement and its been working, same company last 20 years.

If you are comfortable now with pay and you take a lower paying job, the stress could change from work to life, it's a tough balance.

Good luck!

My story on this subject is so long, I will spare boring all of you.

All I can say is I have learned in the last couple of years that working in general is a waste of life. I am 28 now, started working at 14, I was a workaholic, got that from my dad. Gave er hard until some people very close to me were killed in accidents a few years back. It has all made me realize, work as little as you possibly can, and spend the rest of your time doing things that bring you happiness.

The last job I was at was causing me so much stress, I actually ended up with significant health problems. 2 months off of work, hospital stays, endless tests of all kinds, you know what everything revealed? Nothing. Tests come back clean, no one could figure out why I was so sick. Turns out, it was all because of the stress and unhappiness of the job I had at the time.

No job is worth it, not a single job on the planet. At the end, I was completely willing to go work at a burger joint for far less per hour than to continue to tolerate the bullshit of where I was at.

I am still in the same type of work at my new job, but it is a much different environment which makes it easier. I don't love what I do right now, I don't even really like it, but I can leave it at work, and I don't hate it. For now it is ok, it is a neutral kind of job. Doesn't give me shivers but doesn't give me boat loads of stress either.

My advice, get out of that job and find something different, ASAP!

A job is such a large part of our lives, we should be in one we enjoy.

I have had terrible jobs, disgusting jobs, stressful jobs to.

Then I got my current position as a Personal Assistant to a business man. This is the best job I could ever imagine having. Who knew a job this awesome even existed.

My employer is the most wonderful boss.

The job is fun.

The pay is great.

The job perks are incredible.

So glad I quit those other jobs and landed my dream job!

Well, I just had a discussion with my fiance and we agreed that I can give my two-weeks notice on Monday. I had some extra issues this week, and today especially. I too, can no longer "take it". It's hard at age 60 to walk away from $66,000 /year, with nothing on the horizon, but it's the only way I can sleep at night and keep my head on straight.

Everyone, look after your selves FIRST. Your job is temporary but the havoc it can wreak with your life can be permanent.

It's hard at age 60.....

You can be replaced just like someone at 20. But at 60, what can't be replaced is your experience, they won't know what they had until after 2 wks. Money is no use if you don't have the health to spend it. Good decision to walk away, you've been in the workforce too long for that crap.

06pirate has it right. We should be working to take care of ourselves and our loved ones, and if we are very very fortunate to get some form of personal fulfillment/satisfaction. If your job is constantly running counter to that it is times to take a step back and reevaluate. Not that doing that isn't an incredibly hard task at times.

. I hate the company I work for. People there are worried about us getting shut down someday, but I HOPE for it. I stick around for the pay and benefits because I got sucked in early and skipped college. I figured I make as much or more than what I was planning to do, so why spend the time and money to get specialized in a field? I am going to be sure my kids don't make that mistake(I don't care what they do as long as they don't follow the money).

Well, I followed through and quit, gave notice two weeks ago, and escorted out today at 2:30. Good riddance. It IS hard to walk away from $31.22 hour but I haven't been this happy in years. :seeya:

Anybody need a 60-year-old washed up mechanic type person with a bad attitude north of Seattle? I'm available on short notice.
