Vibration issues "chevy shake" questions

Recommended Posts

I know there are a lot of threads regarding the vibration issues with these trucks. I test drove a 2014 1500 denali last night and it had the chevy shake. What an uncomfortable ride for such an expensive truck!

My questions are...

How many of these GM trucks have this issue? Is it all of them or a small percentage of them? I could see how someone wouldnt notice it if they weren't aware of the issue when they go for the test drive.

How do you deal with this issue when talking to the sales people? Car salesmen are the absolute WORST people to deal with. Of course the sales manager was using this one as a demo and said he didnt notice any vibration when driving it. Well no shit, you're trying to sell it so of course theres no vibration in your opinion. Has anyone else brought the vibration issue up when test driving?

I really like the sierra 1500's, especially the denali, but I cant spend 45K+ on a truck that has a worse ride than my 06 4runner with 130K miles on it.

Maybe i should be looking at toyota tundras or something.

Thanks for the replies

I purchased a completely loaded 2016 sierra 4x4 double cab tax title extended warranty everything out the door was pretty close to $60,000 Now when I test drove the truck I instantly noticed a vibration on the freeway the salesman told me that it was just a simple flat spot in a tire from sitting in the lot sounded reasonable to me he said don't worry it would be 100% fixed ! Well my truck that I've only owned for six weeks has now been back and fourth four times and the last time being for 10 days and the dealer has now put three sets of brand-new tires on the truck and a tested other miscellaneous things and it still has the same vibration and they are now telling me they don't know what the problem is that I'm going to have to deal with it ! So as of right now I am searching lemon law lawyers ! So if I was you I would stay as far away from any GM product that you can !!!!!!!!!

Lesson learned. Have the dealer fix any issue before you hand them the check. $60K for a double cab??? Wow.

Mine vibrates over 70mph sometimes, but it's tolerable to me. I also have 285/65/18 AT tires and a 2.5 in level as well. The vibration is irrelevant to me. And I drive 60 miles a day minimum. I don't buy a truck expecting it to ride and drive like a car. I use a truck for what it's "made" for. Do these trucks have flaws? Absolutely. No such thing as the perfect vehicle. I just drive it. I've had it for just under 2 years and it has 41,000 miles, and it completely rebuilt after my wreck (26k in damage and a new frame). No major complaints here.

Good luck to all of you. Enjoy these beautiful machines.

I am not sure on the percentage of trucks that have the "chevy shake," but I know that my 2014 Silverado had the issue. It was a demo when I bought it and had about 2000 miles on it. I DO know that the 2015 GMC Sierra Z71 4x4 that I have now does not have the issue. The ride is super smooth!

I have asked this many times on the forum with no real answer. Will you describe what the "shake" felt like on your 2014 truck?

Thanks in advance.
