Most trucks IMO are work shuttles, grocery geters and taxi cabs delegated to city use so the tires suffice. As mentioned, ride and road noise priority one.

If I lived in a city and drove 100% pavement, I'd still run E rated. Getting a flat on a tollway isn't my idea of fun.

I've had a flat with E rated tire...it can still happen.

I always thought it was weird that Chevrolet put the SRA Goodyear on a z71. I would have thought they would have put on a more off-road tire on an off road truck( I do understand z71 doesn't mean a lot). But with that said I contacted Goodyear headquarters with 2500 miles on the tires and let them know what I thought of these tires. They gave me full money back on them so I could get some better tires. I than went with the Goodyear A/T adventure with Kevlar. This new tire is better in 2wd than the SRA's where in 4wd.

I was gonna say, what terrain are some of these people driving over? I've driven down many dirt roads on my p tires on my Cadillac and have yet to pop a tire. I have stayed on maintained dirt roads, but still, no punctures...yet

 

Just in case you're curious, this is some of the terrain i go through every day, now you know why i prefer LT tires

Thanks for the reply's guys, where I live I use the truck in woods for hunting a bit and I was told that P tires aren't made for the abuse of rocky dirt roads. Coming back to my buddy dodge, the tires are LT and a more aggressive thread. Truck has hemi and just a plain truck with tow package, a well I ordered a 16 crew cab LTZ and will have to put BFG's LOL.

Yup. Second ride in the woods in Northern NB and had to put 4 plugs in one of the stock tires of my '14 Z71. They didn't stay on for long. Those tires are a joke for a truck with an off road package.

GM does a lot of things that I don't understand! I asked a women at the contact center that once and she told be that "They Do What the Market will Bare" !

 

Things that Piss me off are the limited number of colors they offer compared to other manufacturers, not sending cars trucks to Canada until the US market is gotten what it wants. Example is that we will not get Duramax Colorado/ Canyons until 2017, maybe even 18.

What size was the SR-A? KO and KO2 tend to be on the heavy side of the tire spectrum. My comparison was for the factory P265/70/17 Bridgestone Dueler RHS vs. the factory LT265/70/17 C load Bridgestone Dueler RHS.

 

All were 265/70/17. I used Tire Rack for the data. The SR-A is 37 lbs, the BFG C is 46 and the BFG E is 52. The Michelin LTX in an E load was 48, so the BFG is heavier, but it's still 11 pounds from P to E load.

 

That Bridgestone comparison may be skewed as the C load actually has a lower capacity than the P, (112 vs 113) and the P version is 5 pounds heavier than the SR-A. I checked that info on Bridgestone's web-site.

Definitely true, but you greatly improve your odds of avoiding a flat or major tire failure.

High speeds (40 MPH+) on gravel roads will shred a P tire. I had to build the rest of my truck around RC5 which are the LT tires
